Stamkos and Doughty

Is anyone else surprised no one has made either one of them an offer yet? These are two of priemer players in the league and their both extremely young and no team out there wants to take a shot at either one of them? I know Tampa and LA have both said they'll match any offer but why not try to call their bluff?
Nashville is one team in a good position to make an offer to either guy. Their currently 7.09 million bellow the cap floor and they're already a playoff team so the picks they'd be giving up won't exactly be high picks.
Thoughts?

Yes. Tampa is treading on thin ice if they don't get a deal done soon. I think LA is fine even if someone gives them an offer, but Tampa needs to pick up the pace.
And Stamkos in a Nashville uni would be pretty frightening.

I have mad respect for Stevie Y, so I have faith he will get a deal done for Stamkos

Nashville isn't going to make an offer to either, especially Doughty, they don't need more defensemen.
They're going to sign Weber which is going to take a good chunk of money and after Weber's done they're going to move on to Suter and Rinne taking even more money.

Stamkos situation is a weird one. Some say he's gonna re-sign for 5 years, others say he actually wants out of TB. Either way, offer sheets are taboo. Habs have the money to offer Doughty a huge deal and I wouldn't even want them to, because Price and PK are up next year and what goes around comes around.

Stamkos sounds much closer to a deal than Doughty though. Surprised the Islanders, who are way under the cap floor, havent made a huge offer.

The Islanders could afford it. But it just wouldn't make sense for them, the comp picks they'd give up would be really high.
If Nashville could lock up Weber at a reasonable price I really think they should go after Stamkos. Put a guy like him on that team and they'll become an instant contender.

Nashville can't afford him, not unless they want Suter and Rinne to leave which wouldn't be smart. Poile sounded confident that Alexander Radulov will return next year and in 145 NHL games as a 20 and 21 year old he had 44 goals and 51 assists and for Ufa in the KHL he's played 160 games with 66 goals and and 125 assists.
What good is giving Stamkos and Weber big contracts if you can't afford to put any good pieces around them?

Nashville traded Franson and Lombardi to the Leafs simply to cut salary, they arent signing anyone that isnt their own FA this offseason.
I still think the Islanders should put a huge offer down. It would make them a much better team (there should be a good amount of internal improvement) and could get them to the bottom of the playoff bracket. Plus they are going to get a new arena, and a signing like this would go a long way toward selling it out every night.

My problem with the Isles is they need a lot more help on their back end and in nets than they do up front. With all the prospects they have coming up, I think Doughty would help them more in the long run. The way I see it, in a year or two they'll have all the scoring they need with a forward core of Tavares, Okposo, Moulson, Grabner, Strome and Niederreiter.

No doubt. I was just thinking that Stamkos is going to cost more money, and they have the ability to throw money at the biggest fish out there. Not at all saying Doughty isnt a huge need for them.

And now there's a rumor out there that the Isles are prepping an offer sheet for Doughty and may have already sent it. Kings are absolutely screwed if he leaves.

Wow. The Kings would almost have to match because if they don't they're completely screwed.

They have to just to save face. You match it because he is a potential top-5 defenseman in the league and you can't look yourself in the mirror if you let another team take him for a couple of picks. No matter what the $$ amount, you have until September/October to make it fit.

The thing is, Doughty would no better than to waste his career on the isles.
He's staying in La for now.

Stamkos has re-signed in Tampa.
Good for him, good for them.
