Savard out for Season

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli delivered some bleak news to a Boston newspaper on Wednesday.

"Marc Savard won't play this year," Chiarelli told the Boston Globe. "Nothing has changed in our monitoring. He'll be examined and he'll be declared unfit to play.

"Based on what I see, what I hear, what I read, and what I'm told, it's very unlikely Marc will play again," Chiarelli said.

If this summers taught us anything its that concusions shouldn't be taken lightly.

It basically looks like Savards career is over and thats pretty sad. He was an extremely talented guy who was tons of fun to watch.

Ya thats probably the best thing for him to do. But the rest of life is probably going to be ****ed.

All of this really makes you wonder about whats going to happen with Crosby.

Boy was he fun to watch. A fan favorite here in Boston, it was awesome seeing him in the press boxes during the bruins cup run. I just want him to be alright in his daily life, so yes, please retire Marc.

In Boston, Matt Cooke should be known as this generations Ulf Samuelsson.

It's going to be incredibly difficult for him to realize that he needs to stop, but for his own safety, he needs to. As Nolan pointed out, this summer has been the worst offseason in quite possibly the history of the league, and it can be directly attributed to concussions and safety. It's a game you've played your entire life, but you can't let the game end it.

I dunno, seeing with how Crosby's doing, I'd say Dave Steckel ranks much higher on the list right now.

I'm not ranking the all time dirty guys, I was just making the parallel that will be made in Boston with Ulf taking out Cam, and Cooke taking out Savard.
