Little suprised Brendan Shanahan didn't get in over guys like Bure or Oates but he'll make it in eventually.

Still shocked they haven't put Pat Burns in yet.

What a day for Adam Oates!

Mats Sundin reaction on the phone was the best.

Only Bossy and Lemieux have scored more goals-per-game than Bure, so he's certainly more deserving than Shanahan

I definitely think Lindros deserves to be inducted at some point

In his prime, he was more dominant than Shanahan, Oates and Sundin...

Not sure why the OP thinks Shanahan would be a lock

His career numbers mirror those of Dave Andreychuk

Love this class, I'm a Leafs fan so I obviously love Sundin, and Sakic is quite possibly my favorite player of all time

More goals and points in less games than Andreychuk, plus 3 cups as a key contributor (vs. 1 as a complimentary player), 8 All-Star Games (2 for Dave) and only 12 more people have scored more goals than him? In Hockey-Reference's Adjusted Goals (for era) he is 6th (Andreychuk is 17), and 14th in Adjusted Goals Created.

I think he is a more deserving First Ballot guy than Sundin. But all of the guys are deserving to go and I assume Shanahan gets in next year. But we will never know because we dont really know the criteria for making it or why.

I"m trying hard to resist making a Hall and Oates pun right now.

Ahh hell... Looks like somebody told him he could get Everything Your Heart Desires...

I'm appalled that Pat Burns wasn't selected. Brutal.

Shanahan had a Hall of Fame career, no doubt

But he only surpassed 100 points and 50 goals once in his career and wasn't a point-per-game player like Lindros, Bure, Sundin and Oates

I wouldn't say Shanahan was any better than Tkachuk during their prime

He was quite a bit better actually, to the tune of 118 goals better. Also, he had 2 50 goal seasons, so you didnt fact check enough ;)

But in reality, if only 5 more people have scored more goals than you in 100 years, you should be a first ballot guy.

Shanahan averaged .430 goals per game

Tkachuk was better at .448 goals per game

There, I fact checked...

Strong playoff performances certainly have a place in the discussion, however, team accomplishments do not

Did you know that both Jimmy Carson and Ray Sheppard averaged more goals per game than Shanny?

Well I guess Ziggy Palffy is better than Gordie Howe, and Tim Kerr is better than Rocket Richard then.

Shanahan is 118th all-time in points per game with .888
Tkachuk is 119th all-time in points per game with .887

Kerr belongs in the Hall
