Jarome Iginla Dealt to Pens

The Stanley Cup playoffs are a month away and the Pittsburgh Penguins are loaded for bear.

The club capped off a week of headline-grabbing acquisitions Wednesday night with Jarome Iginla on his way over from the Calgary Flames.

"The type of team we have, the type of players, we will be good for him," Penguins GM Ray Shero told reporters on Thursday morning. "Jarome's going to turn the page, come to Pittsburgh and hopefully help us out."

The deal sending Iginla to the Penguins was completed late Wednesday night. The Flames received college forwards Kenneth Agostino and Ben Hanowski and the Penguins' 2013 first-round draft pick.

Well after a crazy night of rumors and apparently done deals with Boston Jarome Iginla is now a Penguin.

Pittsburgh is by far the best fit for Jarome but the package the Flames got back for him is complete garbage.

Jay Feaster's job has to be on the line now after this fiasco with the Bruins. Too many dumb screw ups.

Flames continue to be a laughable organization. They needed to blow that bitch up years ago. Now settling for a late first and two mid-level prospects for Iginla...is Feaster trying to give Garth Snow a run for his money?

Seriously, that team is going to be absolutely terrible for years to come. They have no farm system. Might as well strip it bare, unload everyone worth a damn and try and rebuild through the draft ala Edmonton.

Yeah this deal makes no sense considering what a guy like Iginla means to a contender

Lol, those damn Flames.

Imagine what his value would be a year ago. 1 extra year on the contract, one year younger. And the same goes for Kipper. I have no idea why the Flames would delay the inevitable.

Apparently he picked the Pens... Interesting... How would the package the flames would have received from Boston be graded?

The Bruins thought they were sending defenseman Matt Bartkowski, prospect Alexander Khokhlachev and a first-round draft pick to the Flames in exchange for Iginla, but instead were left standing at the altar.

The package Boston offered was far better. Bartkowski's really nothing special a bottom pairing type that moves the puck and he's also played a handful of NHL games and looked decent. Khokhlachev is a pretty good looking prospect he isn't the greatest skater and he is kinda small but he's a highly skilled and creative forward that can put up points, he's got the potential to be a top 6 guy.

The two guys (Hanowski, Agostino) they got from the Pen's both bottom six guys at best. Agostino's a grinder/energy type, but he's too small to play that style at the NHL level. Hanowski can score a bit and he's got some size, he might turn out to be decent could be a Curtis Glencross type.
