JVR scores the first goal of the year. Followed quickly by Lars Eller. Good game going in Montreal

No terrible. Fun to watch though, Odutya got the eventual game winner for the blackhawks.

Crushing loss for Carolina. They led Detroit 2-1 with 16 seconds to go and the Wings tied it. Detroit wins in OT with a quick goal.

Canes defeat the Flyers 2-1. Backup goalie Khudobin stops 17 of 18 shots. Very impressed with his net play today.

He was a FA. Why be a dink to the guy and stick him behind Tuuka? I'm glad he's got a chance to play more.

He's still behind Ward in Carolina.

I guess he'll still get more playing time, though.

I think he should get planted next time they play NY. I'm not a big stickler on ettiquite, far from it. But he's a dink for trying that up 5 goals and already having a hat trick

I didn't mind it actually. Young kid playing playing out his mind and playing his first NHL game in front of his mother and girlfriend.

Ugh this Oilers team is just way too soft.

Hall gets hammered from behind into the boards and the other 4 Oilers on the ice just stand there and watch...

My Canes are starting the season off well. Very pleased with their play, and hope they can keep it up

Know I'm a week or so late but it is nice to feel the hate for the Avalanche again. Between Roy coaching (still such a prick) and the McCleod incident, I'm really looking forward to them again.

Too bad we are a team of pansies and old men who can't make it interesting a la 1997 though...
