OT - Changes Imminent in Leaf Land

Post#1 » by Komodo » Tue Jan 22, 2008 3:48 pm

According to reports, the Toronto Maple Leafs are likely to hire Cliff Fletcher as interim General Manager, relieving John Ferguson Jr. of his duties. However, it is speculated that Ferguson will remain with the club in a scouting position. A formal announcement is expected later today.

Cliff Fletcher was General Manager of the Leafs from 1991-1997, leading them to consecutive Conference Finals in 1993 and 1994. He was awarded the Executive of the Year in 1993 for his efforts. Perhaps his most illustrious move was trading for Doug Gilmore in 1992 from the Calgary Flames.

Here's to hoping for a high draft pick!
