I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?

I think he's a good addition in Chicago. He's a one year rental, if he busts...he can walk at the end of the year. I think they should've held back a bit though, so they can get a general idea of what the FA market is going to be like before spending their cap on Samsonov.

Yeah, there's only one year left on his deal, so maybe that might motivate Samsonov to play harder for another big contract.

We gave up garbage to get him anyways, good trade by the Hawks.

Sorry, talking about the Samsonov trade. It seems like the #1 motivated htem to make more moves towards a brighter future, not just being content on losing.

Yo, willeat. Are you a Blackhawks fan? I know you're a Bears fan, just wondering...

I don't have an NHL team, actually, just love watching it. I'm a Rockford Icehogs fan, champions of the United Hockey League this season and soon to be the Blackhawks' farm team in the American Hockey League. Because of that switch, I'll probably pay more attention to the Blackhawks than any other team just to see if any Icehogs make the trek east. I'm more of a Milwaukee sports fan, but been a Bears fan since I was kid. I would love for the Blackhawks to succeed, it's a team that desperately needs a rebirth in this area, there's no coverage of the Hawks whatsoever, and Rockford is only an hour and a half west of Chicago.

So to sum up, no, but the door has widened for me.

samsonov is garbage, and the fact that the habs would do anything to get out from under his contact should speak volumes

it's not a huge risk, but it is a waste of money that could be better spent somewhere else

Samsonov adds some power play specialist work and if he plays with Havlat, ANYONE becomes effective (see Radim Vrbata last year... great stats wit Havlat, drops when not on his line).

if they get a solid center on that top line (Toews? maybe too young to be their #1 center off the bat) it could be fairly effective. obviously nothing worth writing home about but Havlat and him on the rush would be a defenseman nightmare with the speed and puck handling.
