The deal, which includes forward Mark Bell going to Toronto, has cost the Leafs their first-round selection (13th overall), second and fourth-round picks

This is a relatively weak draft so I don't mind this as much, I always liked Toskala so I'm happy he's a leaf

I really like this deal for the Leafs. I think Bell needed a change of scenary. Hopefully, he will go back to his form when he was with the Blackhawks. Toskala is a good goalie as well.
Plus with the draft being pretty weak, I think the Leafs made a good decision.

The Sharks get more draftpicks and more cap space, I'm not complaining.

So does Toskala become the Leafs starter in goal now?

I think Raycroft is being shopped now as well as some defenseman.
If not then there's a competition for the #1 spot

If Bell returns to his pre-Sharks form, this is a really good trade for the Leafs. Toskala will beat out Raycroft as the #1 goalie this year if Raycroft doesnt get traded. Decent trade by JFJ.

It's easy to put up good numbers on a bad team, but Bell can't put to good numbers on a good team.

Good trade for both. Sharks needed the cap relief to go after a Souray or Drury type, and they picked up some picks with excess players, while dumping Bell's salary. Leaf's pick up two good players who can be inconsistent.
