I'm surprised there isn't a thread here about him.
What are your thoughts about the "hit"? What type of disciplinary action should come from it? Should he recieve any at all?

I think it was a pretty dirty hit. He left his feet. He was going after revenge after being hit himself around 10 seconds before.
I think the league needs to take serious action on this guy. He has a history of this and I think he won't hesitate to do this to a superstar.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?

Wow. Colin Campbell did something right. He deserved this many games. They need to crack down on crap like this. If he does this again, give him 50. A 3rd time, give him a season. 4th time, ban him.
Not just for Downie, but for any player. After seeing this and then thinking of what Simon did, it's a joke that Simon only got 25.

It was filthy. This doesn't surprise me though, because when he was with the Windsor Spitfires he did crazy stuff. When Akim Aliu was 16, he knocked 3 of his teeth when he cross-checked him and called him racial slurs. because he wouldn't be hazed, the rookies were forced to stand naked in a cramped bus bathroom. This dude's character is out of whack.

When he's focused, he's a real good player. With that said, he needs a shakeup, and hopefully this is it. There's no need for those types of plays, or players for that matter in the NHL. He better keep his head up if he does suit up for the Flyers this season, teams won't take too kindly to that nonsense.

check out the slowmo version: it makes it look a lot worse. He clearly left his feet and threw the elbow.

Im sorry, but 20 isnt enough. This is just a cruel hit, he deserved at least 40, if not more. He could have broken his neck or easily given him a severe concussion with this. Just really, really dirty...

It was dirty hit, really dirty. He had plently of chances to make it a clean hit but he left his feet and put his elbow out. 20 games seems fair. If hitchcock was still in Philly this kid would of got his head ripped off for this hit.
