Good game. A couple of fantastic saves already in this game. It took a while for the players to get used to the bounces the puck takes on the ice with all the snow covering it.

OK, trying to figure out where next season's could take place:

Boston
Buffalo
New York
Toronto
Pittsburgh
Philadelphia
Washington
Chicago
Cleveland/Cincinnati
Nashville
Edmonton
Vancouver
Calgary

Those are all places I can think of in cold climate with an outdoor football stadium. The Red Wings could play at either Michigan St. or Michigan.

I was so excited to see this game the past week. Then I got even more excited before the drop of the faceoff. Then Armstrong scores in the first 2 mins and I thought, this game is going to be awesome. Then here comes the weather, the constant stopage to fix the ice and clear the ice. Then the weatherman at intermission saying the 2nd would be the best period to play. He should be fired. Then the 3rd period. Perfect weather conditions and then they go on with the changing of sides at the 10 min mark delaying the game for another 15 mins. If the NHL had brains, they should have let it go. Instead it delays the game and allows the weather to come back and ruin the game.

If the NHL does this again, I don't want the Pens involved. The weather hurt their speed, killed the flow of the game. I did not enjoy this game at all.

Philthy's owner or GM asked the NHL about doing a game vs the Pens next year at Beaver Stadium (Penn State's Stadium)

The NHL needs to avoid cities where they are in the path of lake effect snow ala Buffalo, Cleveland.

I don't see Washington getting it. They can't draw fans already. Don't deserve it.

Gotta agree Tim. The outside game concept is cool, but it was just soooo stop and go, fix this and that. I couldnt even get into the mood to watch it constantly because of this; i cant imagine the players.

A Red Wings/Blackhawks game would be neat, either at Soldier field or The Big House/Spartan Stadium.

I actually loved watching it, despite the interruptions.

The Penguins' jerseys looked great.

75,000 chanting "Detroit Sucks" would be amazing. They are already mentioning it on the radio here.

Beating down the Hawks in front of their 75,000 fans would be amazing

Theyre actually discussing this tho?

Sounds like the NHL will do this again after they learned NBC drew really good ratings yesterday.

Highest ratings for a regular season game in a decade.

I don't know how much can be read into that since ratings have been dreadful the last decade. But still, the NHL did something no other sport has been able to do, grab significant attention away from college football on New Year's Day. The NHL needs to do this next season, more than once. This was great stuff.

Could you imagine a Rangers-Islanders or Rangers-Devils game in Giants Stadium? Or a Leafs-Bruins game in Gillette Stadium? Hell, if the NHL wants, they could try doing this in football stadiums regardless of weather. St. Louis, Dallas, San Jose, all could play in a football stadium, and those three have very loyal fanbases. Kings-Ducks in the Rose Bowl or LA Coliseum?

I'd assume this wouldn't be played on New Years Day but another date right?

They could get the field half and half. Half the field would be a hockey rink and the other half would be the Rose Bowl. The ratings would be huge.
