Jonathan Roy involved in Goalie Fight

Post#1 » by Rodanlee » Tue Mar 25, 2008 4:25 pm

I shouldn't even call this a fight because the other goalie didn't even want to fight... Let me say this, I think fighting is a necessary part of the game and I am all for it, but Jonathan Roy is a **** douche and should be suspended for a long time, this borders the line with Bertuzzi and attacking a defenseless person... That last punch he snuck in was just horrible.

That's a joke. Should be more. I heard Patrick ordered his son to do this. He must still be upset with Chris Osgood and Mike Vernon for kicking his ass. Anyway, I'm upset with the referees who takled the goalies player who was coming to help him out. The ref should have let him go and give Roy a taste of his own medicine.

Guy should have been suspended for way more than 7 games. If I was the other goalie Id put him up on charges. This wasnt a hockey fight, it was assault and battery.

holy christ, i heard about this but i hadnt seen it. Thats just assault, as someone above said.

I mean, the kid turtled and never even took off his helmet to fight or anything. what a punk (and ironically a colorado influenced boy, daddy Roy must still be pissed about the Wings owning his ass)

7 games is blasphamy, ban him from the league. im serious

There is no doubt that he is a nutcase for doing this but you guys are just as crazy if you want him banned for life. Stop comparing what happens on the ice to real life. You are starting to sound like Bob McGowan and that is not a good thing.

He should have been arrested.

Why can't you compare these things to real life. That goalie wanted no part in the fight. That is assault. If I do that on the street, it is the exact same thing. Both are assault.

I don't think he should be banned, but should have gotten more games and should get charges pressed against him.

Yeah, I guess we can't compare what happens on ice to what happens on the streets. It's not like people on the streets carry around big metal sticks and wear metal spikes on their feet.

Assault's assault, regardless of where it happens. What Jonathan Roy did was assault.

Yeah the fact that the other goalie made no motion toward him and looked absolutely disinterested in fighting made Roy Jr look like a complete and utter fool. Though I do believe him tooling the other team's forward at the end was rather awesome.

What the ****? This is pretty disgusting. He assaulted the other goalie, it wasn't a fight, the goalie was relaxing and roy came up and started smacking him. Then my favorite part, he flips off the fans, **** ****, you assualt someone, and not expected to be booed? And what the **** is with the refs?!?!? They stood back and pointed towards the bench when Roy was beating the guy, yet when a player comes over to try and help his goalie, they tackle his ass??

Exuse me for my language, but this really angered me, and made me want to bang both Pat, and Johnathon Roy's heads against the wall.

I don't know how long he should get suspended for, but I do know, it should be alot longer then a weeks vacation.

3 Games for the gester to the fans.

18 Games.

Roy sr

6 Games for ordering his son to go down and attack.

Unfortunately, I don't agree with a lifetime ban. There's much worse that goes on in the CHL than a fight where a player doesn't fight back. This became public because of the last name.

I personally think he should never be able to step foot on the ice in the CHL again, but it became public due to the last name...and no other reason.

I agree, I would have handed out something along those lines. Maybe a bit more. I would ask that one of the Roy's be removed from his team in case it happens again.
