biggest star/superstar you think will be traded b4 deadline?

I was just curious with all the rumors out there of players being shopped traded who do you think will be gone?

I don't see the Wings making any deals unless it's for a goalie or a stud young defenseman who can come in and be a shining force for a few years. Also please don't make up BS trades like Malkin, Crosby and MAF or Staal for Kabrle, Toskala and fillers or something like that.

I heard that Montreal is pushing for Marian Gaborik. I think the Kings could walk away with a big name this deadline. They have some picks and young players they could deal for Ilya, Marian or maybe Nathan Horton.

Ilya is a good option. . .will end Atlanta having a hockey team.

My pick is Vokuun (spl?) He is riding the bench in Florida to a vastly lower contract. I think he will be the first to be moved for sure

Minnesota wants way too much for Gaborik - I doubt Gainey makes a move for the man made of glass.

I hope he makes a push for Ilya, though. Or Horton.

Overall, I think the biggest name to be traded will be Ilya or Spezza.

Yeah, I was gonna say Jason Spezza if Ottawa doesn't wake up.

Jay Bouwmeester. His name is all over the rumor mill.

It will be difficult for teams close to the cap to make a deal for a player like Kovalchuk and Gaborik. Atlanta and Minnesota will want young players in the trade and not salaries, especially Atlanta.

yeah thats what I was thinking. I mean you would have to give up pick(s) in the early rounds and they would have to be lotto bound for Ilya, I mean he's still a 50 goal 30+ assist guy guys like that don't come cheap just ask the Pens.

I think Bouwmeester is the clear obvious choice for a D-Man but I don't know where he will end up maybe Chicago I mean they have a great team and could move peices but Sharp, Towes and Kane look like they are off limits.

Thomas Kabrle could also be out the door. Looks like Leaf land will have to absorb some of his salary though.

The Pens didn't give up much to get Hossa.

I would love for the Pens to get Nathan Horton from Florida, if he is on the block. Only has a cap hit of $4 million and is in his second year of that contract. Could be a perfect fit on Sids wing.

Yeah, the Hawks don't have much on D behind Keith, Campbell and Seabrook. Wisniewski is injured right now, and frankly he doesn't do much when healthy. Brent Sopel sends me into a fiery rage, and Barker and Walker are just there. Bouwmeester and Campbell would look nice.

Not sure what it would take to get him, and it's a shame Florida isn't in the goalie market since someone has to go on this end. As far as I'm concerned, Dustin Byfuglien is up for grabs, he just looks like an oaf right now.

Bouwmeester is for sure getting moved, its almost guranteed.

Good chance Gaborik also gets moved.

Dont be suprised if Montreal makes a big deadline deal. This team currently is second round fodder at best and they arent the team me and many others thought they would be. Just dont have enough players that are willing to battle.

Well you did move a quility prospect in Angelo Esposito who could turn into something good. Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen are not terrible either they are decent role players. Colby actualy has been good for the Thrashers 11 points in 18 games. The pick always helps as well since you can get good talent and they are nice trade bait if you don't use it.

Does that mean you were ripped off for Hossa? Hell no but I don't think the Pens would move that kind of package for a rental (expiring) unless he's a RFA they can keep or for a legit star (Zetterberg for example). As for Horton I don't see too much you can offer them I mean it would have to be like Staal and Whitney or something along those lines. Horton would make the Pens a force he's a legit 30-50-80 player on that team. His contract is also pretty good 6 years for $24 million I would take that in a second.

Angelo Esposito is quickly turning into a second tier prospect. I don't think he will do much when he makes it into the NHL. He is currently playing in the Q and has 27 points in 21 games. For his age, he should be dominating there.

Erik Christensen is nothing. He will never turn into anything. He has had his chance to show teams he can be a #2 center at most and has failed miserably.

Colby Armstrong is probably going to be the biggest thing in the trade and he is a 3rd line player.

The experience the Pens got for that, and almost winning the cup, was well worth it.

As for Horton, I would love for him to be on the Pens, but it would be hard for me, if I were a GM, to give up Staal or Whitney for him. Whitney is going to be a great defenseman and for his salary, he will be a steal. Staal is going to turn into a beast when he gets older in grows into his body.

Also, to get Horton, it won't be Staal and Whitney. It would just be Whitney or Staal and a salary player to clear room for Horton. Whitney and Staal would be way overpaying for someone who wasn't lived up to their potential yet.

Maybe I overatted Angelo a tad bit. I think he's a solid prospect and would love him on my team. Just watch what he will do for Team Canada this year. I don't expect Eric Lindros numbers from Team Canada but I expect a solid championship for him. Yes you did make a impressive run but Malkin did a ton of work as well and MAF stood on his head at times. You have to give them credit as well, as for the other 2 peices in the Hossa deal granted they are nothing great but Colby has at least done something with the Thrashers.

I don't think the Panthers would just hand you Horton for just Whitney when they are moving a D-Man who is better then yours no offense. If they had to choose between the 2 it would be Staal for sure. I don't think Staal is that much of a upgrade over Horton if anything and they are not going to hand over Nathan for the sake of handing him over. Now maybe if it were Whitney and Staal + something for Boumeester and Horton it could be possible but superstar trades are very rarely ever done.

With this recent spurt by the Panthers, who knows if they'll be dealing Horton or Bouwmeester away now. There's still plenty of time between now and the trade deadline, so who knows what will happen to the Panthers in the meantime. But for a team that is so devoid of defense, I'm not sure Bouwmeester is gonna be dealt away anymore.

The difference between Bouwmeester and Whitney is that, Florida will probably not be able to sign Bouwmeester after this season. Whitney is signed for another 4 years for a $4 million cap hit which will be a bargain in a few years.

If Florida wants more than Whitney for Horton, then no thanks.

So wait you would deal Whits for Horton but not Staal and Whits for Jay and Nathan? I would take that deal if I am the Pens. Jay is a great young D-Man who doesn't get his respect because he plays on **** Flordia. I mean Whits is good and all but I think Jay has the higher celing both are elite young d-man. Nathan for Staal is also pretty close I would choose Staal just because he's 3 years younger and looks damn good to start trying to rebuild with. I mean the Panthers could throw you something else but they will not overpay for the sake of overpaying. The deal isn't that bad it's a pretty good starting point.

I wouldn't do Bouwmeester and Horton for Whitney and Staal because Bouwmeester is going to be a free agent next season. The Pens won't be able to sign him so the Pens would be losing out on the deal.

If Bouwmeester was signed for another year, then yes, I would do it.

Wouldn't the Pens be enough under the cap to resign him? I mean yeah you risk loosing him but it just might be enough to win you the cup this year. I am not saying it's a sure fire thing but I wouldn't low ball the Panthers. The deal doesn't work as well since Jay makes $4.875 million and Horton makes $3.5 million vs Whits $3 million and Staal's $850k salary. You would need to send more money and that would make this trade something that you guys wouldn't do. The only salary that comes close is Satan or you man crush Brooks Oprik and we all know you wouldn't move him even for Ovechkin

Not a star anymore, but Theodore should be packing his bags if he regains some of his old form and a team is desperate for a goalie come trade deadline.

Varlamov is the future and Johnson has shown to be good enough to man the position for a season or two.

No sane GM will trade for Theodore.
