NHL Trade Deadline talk

Post#1 » by timd1218 » Fri Feb 20, 2009 3:02 am

The trade deadline is only a few weeks away.

Here is Darren Dreger's list of the top 10 possible players being traded:

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=267766&lid= ... dlines_nhl

Of those players, I would like to see Nik Antropov on the Pens. Big body and goes to the net. Every game I see him play against the Pens, I enjoy watching him play.

Chris Pronger's name on the list surprises me.

I expect the bruins to make a deal or two. A D-man and a left handed shot forward.

PC basically said he is trying to get a deal done.

So many teams looking for D men. That trade with Schnieder seemed like the Habs way overpaid. . now it looks like they may have been ahead of the game.

Vancouver interests me the most. Lots of cap space, and a good team to begin with. They are in a position to be pretty scary

Really? I thought we got a bargain at what we got him for. He's probably going to re-sign at a discount if he doesn't retire, too.

Habs have enough young players, a few draft picks aren't really that important right now.

Yeah I was extremely happy with what we traded for Schneider. He's got a howitzer of a shot I tell you, wow. I never realized just how big a shot he had until I saw him unleash on his two goals since being a Hab.

Salary dump, nothing more. Plus with Lapierre and Tom, Begin was the odd man out. I'm excited though, this could be a domino for a bigger deal.

I thought there would be more of a following then this. Anyway, anyone wanna take a guess as to where the following players will go?

Jay Bouwmeester -

Nik Antropov -

Jordan Staal -

Scott Gomez -

Erik Cole -

Chris Pronger -

Oli Jokinen -

Alexandre Frolov -

Jason Spezza -

Vinny Lecavalier -

Ryan Smyth -

I'm not putting Tomas Kaberle on the list. I have heard he won't waive his no trade clause and this also goes for Marty St. Louis.

It will get more of a following, there are so many deals in the NHL, can't wait for the trade deadline.

Jay Bouwmeester - Montreal
Nik Antropov - Pittsburgh
Jordan Staal - Really? He's on the block? I thought that was just our radio host shooting his mouth off. wow.
Scott Gomez -
Erik Cole - Boston
Chris Pronger - No where, stays in ANH.
Oli Jokinen - Calgary
Alexandre Frolov -
Jason Spezza -
Vinny Lecavalier - No where, stays in TB
Ryan Smyth - New York Rangers

I'll edit the rest later.

I don't see Antropov coming to Pittsburgh anymore. They want to much for an underachiever.

Anyway, I can see Staal on the block because I still don't think Kunitz is the winger for Crosby. I think he will play with Crosby, but he won't be the scorer. And in order to get that, you have to trade an asset. Staal is locked up to a fair deal starting next year. I personally think he is going to be a beast so he should net a high return. Plus, he is playing on the 3rd line in Pittsburgh. He needs to play with a better supporting cast on his wings, and here, he aint getting that.

I wasn't discrediting that, you obivously would know if he is on the block. I just pointed out that a radio host in boston said there was no way Staal is on the block after a caller made a comment on him.

I know you weren't discrediting me. I just believe with him going to be making $4 million dollars a year as a 3rd line center, it just doesn't make sense. He has said he wants to stay as a center, so he won't be moving to wing. He has hinted in interviews that he wants to be a top 2 center and not 3rd and he won't be doing that on the Pens.

2 things that might keep Staal here are:

1. This was Shero's first pick. He may be hesitant to give him just for ego sakes.
2. He played like a beast last night and showed he doesn't want to be traded. Maybe this will light a fire under his butt and he will keep this going. Him and Kunitz also played well together so if Luca Caputi can be ready for next season, maybe the Pens can do Crosby-Caputi, Malkin-Sykora and Staal Kunitz. That would be a very dangerous 3 lines.

Looks like Guerin is traded. Took the skate, healthy scratch; pulled. They're saying Pitts or Washington.

Billy on Washington is wow.

Looks like things are starting to fall. Wow, I don't want to see Guerin on a team that has already had the B's number out there.

Mixed reports on the Bruins and Pronger coming out.

this site http://www.hockeyjournal.com/Article.php?ArtID=306772 wrote:Many of the trade rumors currently swirling around the Bruins this weekend have Chris Pronger in Boston before Wednesday’s trade deadline expires.

But, according to a source that’s had direct conversation with Phoenix defenseman Derek Morris, the Coyotes told Morris on Thursday that both Philadelphia and Boston have asked for him to waive his no-trade clause.

I don't want Pronger because of the price. If we are going to give up our good youth, why not trade for J-Bo, who is younger. Plus doesn't Pronger ask out like every 2 years. Why give up a Krecji, Wheeler or Kessel for him?

Pronger doesn't want out every two years, his wife does.

I would give up Wheeler or Kessel for Pronger in an instant. Krecji I'd have to think about.

Second time I heard about his wife, what's up with her?

eklund is saying guerin to montreal, maybe even by today. :sour:

And for Pronger, apparently what I posted was an updated rumor. there was an earlier report of Stuart, Colborne, and a first for Pronger agreed to, but salary cap issues needed to be worked out. :droop: It fell through though. B's turn their attention to Morris and Kaberle.

Jay Bouwmeester - too many options. . .

Nik Antropov - pitt

Jordan Staal - Tor

Scott Gomez - Van

Erik Cole - FLA

Chris Pronger - Bos (would be sick!!)

Oli Jokinen - wont move

Alexandre Frolov - wont move

Jason Spezza - Minny

Vinny Lecavalier - wont move

Ryan Smyth - NJ would be perfect

St Louis - Put him in myself. Everything i hear is Pitt is really trying to get him to line up with Sid. I think this would be terrible. 2 very undersized skill players. . .

Not sure if you referred to this earlier:

http://www.stanleycupofchowder.com/2009 ... pdate-w-ja

This writer thinks Boston and Anaheim agreed in principle to trade Pronger.

I hope Guerin doesn't end up on the Pens. He is overrated.
