With the season coming to a close I thought I would outline the draft lottery. First of all only the bottom 5 teams have a shot at the #1 pick. You can only move up 5 spots and down 1. If someone outside of the bottom 5 wins the lottery then the team with the worst record gets the #1 pick in the draft.
As of April 11 (2:00pm) the order goes like this:
1. New York Islanders- 61 points GR: 2 Record: 26-45-9
2. Tampa Bay Lightning- 66 points GR: 1 Record: 24-39-18
3. Colorado Avalanche- 68 points GR: 2 Record: 32-44-4
4. Atlanta Thrashers- 74 points GR: 1 Record: 34-41-6
5. Los Angeles Kings- 77 points GR: 1 Record: 33-37-11
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Phoenix Coyotes- 77 points GR: 1 Record: 35-39-7
7. Toronto Maple Leafs- 79 points GR: 1 Record: 33-35-13
8. Dallas Stars- 83 points GR: 0 Record: 36-35-11
9. Ottawa Senators- 83 points GR: 1 Record: 36-34-11
10. Edmonton Oilers- 85 points GR: 1 Record: 38-34-9
11. Minnesota Wild- 87 points GR: 1 Record: 39-33-9
12. Nashville Predators- 88 points GR: 0 Record: 40-34-8
13. Buffalo Sabres- 89 points GR: 1 Record: 40-32-9
14. Florida Panthers- 91 points GR: 1 Record: 40-20-11
As far as the tie breaking rules:
1. Wins
2. The amount of points gained within the season series between the two teams. If there is an unequal amount of home games, then the first home game of the team with more does not count towards the tie break.
3. The greatest difference between goals for and goals against
