Blackhawks fire Tallon, Stan Bowman named GM

Word out of Chicago is the Blackhawks have fired Dale Tallon as GM and are naming Stan Bowman as new GM.

Heard this as well. Sucks to be Talon, as he's done a heck of a job with getting the team turned around with the youngins. Then again, you can't expect not to be fired after the stunt he pulled with the QO's.

I actually think that had little to do with this. You could sense Scotty Bowman working his way into the player decisions more and more as the season went along to the point where you wondered if Tallon was even around anymore. Now the Bowmans can have full control over the operation

I hate the timing of this, much like Savard's firing after the first win of the season last year. But, we'll see how this works out. Brightside, Bowman absolutely despises Brian Campbell, so look for a deal with him later this offseason.

Hmm, well maybe they just used it as an excuse sort of so it didn't look they were firing him just so the Bowmans could take over.

Good move. Tallon made some idiotic moves. Drafting Toews and Kane were a no brainer and if the Bowman can't get rid of Campbell this season or next, say bye bye to at least one of Kane, Toews and Keith.

Was surprised at first, but totally understandable the more I look at it.

Bowman is a genius, so I honestly can't question a damn thing he does. (Scotty, that is)

Yeah, don't take this move as Stan being solely in charge. Scotty will have a huge amount of say in the product on the ice for the Hawks.

There was a very big riff between Dale Tallon and one of the majority owners of Blackhawks for years. They didn't see eye to eye. The whole QO fiasco was the straw that broke the camels back and hopefully it wont ruin their hopes at a championship. They could have used the extra money this season.
