So since we have keeper leagues with every other sport we might as well have one for hockey too.
We will be beginning fresh with a maximum of 14 teams. So far 11-12 spots are already reserved for this league. If anyone else wishes to join, your name will be added to a waiting list.

There are a few areas of concern with this league that will need to be decided upon before the draft begins.
The following are what we need input on - vote below for either a) or b) for each question;

1a) Would you like to have 4 D spots and 5 bench players?
1b) Would you like to have 3 D spots and 6 bench players?

2a) Would you like to include PIM as a category?
2b) Would you like to exclude PIM as a category?

3a) Would you like a max moves limit of 50 moves per season?
3b) Would you like there to be an unlimited amount of moves?

4) what other stats would you want to include for either skaters or goalies? (if a majority, 8 managers, want to add this category then it will be added)

Lottery Information:
We will be using the website http://www.random.org/sform.html to generate the draft order. I will get someone who is not in the league to run it for us so there is no bias. Your lottery number will be your registration number.
Lottery results will be posted before Saturday August 1, 2009 at 12pm EST.

Offline Draft Rules:
Each manager will have 12 hours to make his/her selection.
If you do not make your pick within your 12 hour time limit, your pick is skipped and the draft will move along to the next manager, and the next and so on. When skipped, you can make your pick at any time when you check back in.
If you feel you will not be able to make your pick when your time is due to come up, please email a contingency list to MGD, OldNo7 or another manager who you trust to make the selection for you.
Once you make a pick, it is final. There is no changing your pick. You are not to edit the post that you make your pick in. You may trade draft picks at any time after the lottery. You may also include players in your offline trades prior to the start of the season without experiencing the pending period you will experience during the season.
Once the draft begins, there will be a player moratorium, wherein you cannot mention ANY players’ name that have not yet been selected.

Add/Drop/Waivers:
There will be a 2 day waiver period for dropped players.

Injured Reserve:
Each team will be able to assign 2 players to the injured reserve list at a time. Players eligible will have a red IR beside their position.

Keeper Info:
At the end of each season, each manager will choose 7 players to 'keep'. 3 of these players must be a forward ( a C, LW or RW), 1 must be a Defenseman, 1 must be a goalie and the final player kept must be a rookie. For a player to qualify as a rookie he must fit the following criteria; if a skater, that player must have played in less than 60 regular season NHL games, if a goalie, that player must have played in less than 30 regular season NHL games.

The rest will go into the free agent pool along with all rookies for the next season

At the conclusion of the season: The manager who wins the season (playoffs) gets to keep an additional player (any position) but loses their 2nd round pick.

The lottery for next year will be much like an NBA lottery, where the last place team will get the most “balls” and greater odds of getting the first pick, but no guarantee so as to prohibit tanking on purpose. There will be 6 non-playoff teams. The 3 teams with the worst records will have equal/the best odds (8 balls for example), the next 2 teams will have half of the worst 4 (4 balls for example), and the last non-playoff team will have half of that (2 balls for example).
There will be 14 rounds to fill out your roster again.
I will keep track of each manager’s keeper list and will post them as we approach the draft for the next season. All drafts will be offline.

ACTIVE MANAGERS ONLY:
The goal of keeper league’s is to make this multiple seasons, so please, only join if you want to be a serious part of this for years to come!

Inactive managers will be replaced at season’s end with no hesitation.

Mike and I discussed this when throwing ideas back and forth for the league. We decided that if we are keeping faceoffs, it would make sense to have 3 C positions because everyone was just using their F slot for a C anyways. So we just replaced the F with a third C. Just makes sense for the stats we are having to make 3 C's the norm.


Also to add, lmallia is coming on board. He is in our HKL Baseball league and HardcorePoints league.

I play in another league that uses saves for goalies, and it gives a bit more value to guys like Vokoun and Toskala, guys who play on bad defensive teams and see a lot of rubber. Otherwise I like the setup.
