Bobby Portis Value Check…

Post#1 » by GreekAlex » Mon Feb 5, 2024 11:30 pm

I’ve long wanted Bobby as a gritty veteran presence who can consistently hit the 3 for the Pistons.

I didn’t think it was possible based on the Bucks championship aspirations and the role he plays for them.

Hearing the reports of them potentially send him to Dallas got me thinking.

What are the Bucks looking for in return for Portis?

With them being at the second luxury tax apron, what type of deal makes sense?

They will need a win now player obviously. Doesn't mean Detroit couldn't get him for futures, but would mean roping in a 3rd team. Sounds like they want wing defense.

Could something like this work?

Bruce Brown to Mil

Portis
pat connaughton To Detroit

Expirings
2nds to Toronto

Detroit eats the Connaughton contract to get their target.

Seems TOR could get SRP and expiring from several teams. Why would TOR choose this option?

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Wanted him on the Wolves when we needed rebounding badly, think he could still bring toughness we need but we just have too many bigs for it to make any sense.

I don't see a ton of teams needing him, Dallas maybe but they've got some meh bigs already with Holmes, Williams and Klebber signed to similar deals.

That’s a good question.

Do a lot of contenders that would want Brown have $22M in expiring contracts?

The pistons have Washington’s second round pick which projects to be the 2nd pick of the second round.

Milwaukee could chip in with some seconds too.

Kyle Anderson would be very valuable on the Bucks. But, the extra money on Portis makes him tough to absorb. Would need to involve more players and a third team to get us a PG as well. I don’t see it.

If I'm OKC and he's tradeable for wing Defense, I'm looking at Portis seriously. Such as... a 3 team swap then OKC gets Portis+Connaugton, TOR gets Bertans and multiple picks, and Milwaukee gets Bruce Brown.

Tate and a bunch of tax savings is about as high as I'd go. Can have Bullock too if they want him. Don't think hes super valuable but Milwaukee needs win now guys for their win now guys which is always hard to make a deal for

OKC can use him but we need it to be 3way or 4way as we aren’t offering anything Milwaukee need .

Someone other there may need picks
