Mavs-Clips-Hornets

Smallish trade here.

Hornets receive

Seth Curry From Dallas
Bones Highland from the Clippers

Mavs receive

PJ Tucker from the Clippers
Mason Plumlee from the Clippers

Clippers receive

Cody Martin from the Hornets
Richaun Holmes from the Mavs
2028 2nd round pick Heat pick Via the Mavs

Via rumors Hornets have shown interest in Highland in the past 24 hours
Seth Curry adds some 3 point shooting for Ball to dish too

Mavs need a vet in the locker room in PJ Tucker to help with the defense and can play maybe even start at the PF in some matchups. its no secret that PJ wants to be traded from the Clippers bc he wants to play
Mavs get a backup Big in Plumlee if he can stay healthy can help with Mavs.

Clippers add some more Shooting or Harden in Martin and some more defense and bench help.
Clippers add a healthy big in holmes Clippers have had issues with Bigs not staying healthy this would help that.
Clippers add some draft comp in the 2028 2nd round pick.

It's no secret that PJ wants to be traded from the Clippers bc he wants to play This is know around the NBA
Bones has fallen in and out of the lineup for the Clippers. Bones fits kinda perfectly with the Hornets. Balls in and out of the lineup a lot due to injuries.

Clippers can't do much since there a 2nd apron team.

Yes it's kind of a odd trade. Yeah I know maybe to some it doesn't make sense I just don't see the clippers buying out PJ so why not get small assets in return.

Mitch Kupchak just can't help himself lol, We have several Bones Hylands on the team already. From a talent perspective though, sure.

I don't understand this for the Clippers. I would think they would rather move that salary to get a player who could help them than move it for other meh players and a distant pick.

I think Charlotte obviously does this and Dallas might if they can't land a good player. But feels like the wrong direction for the Clippers.

Cody Martin doesn't help them? Having a healthy Big in Holmes doesn't either?

Martin recently missed 1.5 seasons with some vague knee injury, has been on and off the injury report even since he came back, and shoots 45 TS% when he does. His defense and hustle are nice when he does play but he's at best neutral value.

Martin sits behind Amir, keeping the bench warm.

Holmes sits behind Theis.

Clippers would either look to erase PJ or get a larger cap number for this summer. Not look to downgrade Bones and Plum.

I dont believe they can take on a larger cap number per the new cba. since clippers are a 2nd apron team.

110% this year.

Next year is when it becomes $ for $, which makes PJ for Holmes make sense.

But then, Bones, Plumlee for Martin and a second is a resounding no, as Martin wouldn't sniff the court, healthy or not

Does Pj or Bones play meaningful minutes?

Plumlee does.

Bones is a cheap, youngish player to go with Primo, BJ, Kobe and Moussa going forward.

PJ and Bones for Holmes and a second, fine.
