IND / PHI

Post#1 » by Foshan » Thu Feb 8, 2024 2:43 am

PHI: Morris / RoCo / '261st, 2 seconds, cash)
IND: Hield / Smith

(Basically 1st for Smith, 2nd for Hield, 2nd + cash to make up the salary difference, get philly under the tax)

Why?
Philly gets a streaky shooter in Hield... Philly pays some assets for a young guy who they could hope to keep around in Harris' spot long term.

Indy gets some picks to play with this summer to get pieces that complement what they have, I think Jackson could step up into Smith's minutes.

Seems like an overpay to me. I don't have Smith worth a 1st and if he really is then he for sure is opting out so you have walk risk. I would suggest at least dropping the 2nds here to fix the value.

I think Indy would probably resist including Jalen Smith? I think there's some hope they can re-sign Jalen as protection with Myles entering his final year under contract (and being ineligible to extend as a result of the required delay from his renegotiation). I think Indy would be willing to include Obi with Buddy and maybe renegotiate from there?

As to the OP though, Which 1st or what protections? Philly owns their own 1st and the least of OKC/Houston/LAC. I'm not sure that it may necessarily be risky enough to take the chance it may end up being ok?

Reports are that the Pacers aren't interested in anything the 76ers are offering for Hield and would need a third team to make it happen.

Whether or not we can believe those reports, who knows, but that is what is being said.

A first being offered in this deal may change that though.

I wouldn't consider a 1st in a deal for just Hield... i actually have little interest in him above Morris and the least valuable 2nd in existence. I like the inclusion of Smith because I wouldn't mind minorly overpaying for him, and then you could say some of that value is for hield.

Do the Pacers want to have Buddy on a likely playoff opponent?

Sure, we can spend the entire game attacking him like other teams do to us.

lol this is one reason i have very little interest in him, and would only do the deal if we could work someone else of use into the deal.
