I wouldn't have traded for him, but I would have welcomed him in for a tryout as PGOTF for ORL. He's better than what's here now. I'd hand him the keys and give him every shot to grab the job. I don't blame him for wanting to contend - he could actually play a big role, probably starting with DLo firing away off the bench.

Dejounte is better - but, apparently, not attainable and not 3 frps better. Hate the Lakers, but love it for the Lakers :x

Situation really is dire over at ORL when you want consider him as PGOTF.
I had to do a double take and check his age. He’s like 31 in April so more of PGOTP, for past or present if you are still irrationally high on him.

For the vet min, without any assets paid though ? Yes he’s a good pickup. Worth a try see how much he can contribute.

...that's all I said - worth a vet min look. Best available just days after the TD.

But who on the LAL will defend quick guards on the perimeter? Definitely not Spencer . . . he was always "laterally challenged", and looks noticeably worse this year

Lakers don't do man.defense much now, mostly switch defense. So Din is useful there

Yeap . Just sharing your pain as franchise that didn’t shore up the rotation this trade deadline.

Wanted LA to do something - anything - at the deadline, but adding Dinwiddie for nothing might actually be better than giving up just about all they could for Murray.

Agree, at least Lakers can try the lesser version of a similar archetype. They can keep him if it works or upgrade to Murray in offseason.

If it doesn't work well then bail on Murray

Also - people shouldn't overlook Gabe Vincent. Not saying that Vincent is a true needle mover - but your going to take minutes away from Max Christie and Cam Reddish and give them to Vincent.

I think come playoff time, the Lakers main closing lineup will feature a Vincent-Reaves backcourt with James and Davis in the front court mixing Rui/Vando/Dinwiddie as the 5th guy depending on the matchup.

Starters - Russell/Reaves/Rui/James/Davis
Bench - Vincent/Dinwiddie/Prince/Vando

Still needs a true backup C but it's a nice group

Can even add Reddish in that lineup. But yeah, Din slots in to the top 8 (main playoff rotation) and bumps out a lesser player.
