Spurs/Bulls

Post#1 » by louc1970 » Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:56 pm

SAS trades Johnson and his 3 remaining years at $20, Graham and his expiring $12, and some other filler.

Bulls trade LaVine.

Bulls get a young SF in Johnson. And a PG to be serviceable allowing the bulls to move Caruso.

Spurs are going to be paying low salaries for a while with all of the draft picks they have, so money is really not a big issue. Also gives Spurs another offensive threat to partner with Wemby.
In the 2 or 3 years of Wemby maturing, he takes over and LaVine is headed out.

Graham only has 2.85 guaranteed next season.

I’m really low on Keldon, and I don’t see this for San Antonio

The Bulls really don't need a young SF signed for 3 years at $20M per. They have two options, bring back DeRozan at the 3 or move on from him and retain RFA Patrick Williams who they know is extremely strong on the defensive end, shoots a higher 3pt%, knows the system and he's actually younger than Johnson. Beyond that, they keep their one time #4 pick so they don't look like they whiffed on the pick. What they need is a PF with either of their SF options.

They still don't need Graham because they have 8 active guards under contract, Lavine then Graham makes 9.

For all the faults people want to attach to Lavine to get him cheaper, he can shoot the ball, people act like he doesn't really score those 25ppg and he stretches the floor. You're right on the timing of Lavine's contract, by the time Wemby and their other youngbloods are ready to contend he'll be expiring and moveable.

I would do this in a second, but I doubt SA would. I like Johnson, and I think he'd be a good fit for us

CHI should accept this, SA should decline it.
