Minnesota trade: KAT
Minnesota receive: Kuzma, White
Chicago trade: White
Chicago receive: Collins, own 2025 1st back, ATL 2027 1st
Washington trade: Kuzma
Washington receive: Graham, Osman (S&T 1st yr guaranteed only) ATL 2025 1st
SAS trade: Collins, Graham, Osman (S&T 1st yr guaranteed), ATL 25/27 1sts, CHI 2025 1st
SAS receive: KAT
Why for Minnesota: save money and get PG and forward holes filled
Why for Chicago: rebuild with picks
Why for Washington: get an unprotected 1st for kuzma
Why for SAS: create a lethal front court and open up the paint for Wemby (i assume they will draft a PG)
(Osman gets whatever $ is needed to salary match the trade, which im fairly certain is worth more than what he will get in FA)

Re: Washington - SAS - Minnesota - Chicago
KAT doesn't make any more sense for the Spurs long term than he does for the Wolves. The price isn't horrible or anything, but the fit doesn't make long-term sense, and I am skeptical Towns would have the resale value to make up for this after the trade.
Also, color me skeptical of Coby White's value in this trade. He's not just a 2025 ATL first away from KAT's value. I'm skeptical Kuzma is worth an unprotected 2025 first as well. I like White and think he'd be an interesting Spur. A deal between SAS and Chicago might make sense, but this adds pieces that make the trade undesirable

I dont think Wemby will be ready to man C for a few years (see Mobley), or at least he shouldn't if you want to preserve his health. I see him moving to C when he gets older and less mobile. Big men rookies takes much longer to develop so i favor SAS taking a PG in this draft over a raw big man, but thats just me i guess.

Wemby may not be a full-time center. I agree with that, though I think you have it backwards in that he will play center mostly until his skill level increases to where he play play PF more. Regardless, I am somewhat controversial on SpursTalk for being open to Wemby playing next to another center. Towns isn't that guy though. The team could much better use a rim-runner, shot-blocker type than any ball-dominant outside shooter.

Re: Washington - SAS - Minnesota - Chicago
I think this is a very easy no for the Wolves. Paying Kuzma $64.4M over the next 3 years to be a bench big makes little sense (he wouldn't start over Naz), and White just doesn't have the value to make this even a little bit interesting for Minnesota.

I'm trying to think of an example of a player of KAT's caliber on a team trying to contend that was traded without asking out?

This is a very weak offering for Towns.

The 2nd apron is going to have very little impact on the Wolves decisions this offseason. The 2nd apron penalties only come into play when a team needs to build out their roster, and Minnesota has most of their key players under contract with some young talent waiting in the wings to fill the 9-12 spots on the depth chart. The only real question for the Wolves is how much over the luxury tax line are they willing to go for the next 1-2 seasons (after which Gobert comes off the books and the money issues become a lot more manageable).

Re: Washington - SAS - Minnesota - Chicago
I have no issues with adding KAT to Wemby. I mean if KAT/Gobert works, no reason in theory that can't. But I also think Wemby can play center right now. He's never going to get to a point where Embiid/Jokic/Sabonis don't out physical him. And against lessor but more physical centers you are fine with JV pushing him around a bit because Wemby is going to play JV off the court first anyway.
I'm for get the best players and KAT's ability to play offense from the outside as well makes him a fine fit, but I'd rather have PF skills than center skills next to Wemby even right now.

Coby WHite and Kyle Kuzma are not this good

I would do this from Washington's perspective.

But why would they trade one of their best players to save money? There would be other alternatives to save if they opted to

Re: Washington - SAS - Minnesota - Chicago
My take is that the Bulls have a very much still improving Coby White, as well as Ayo Dosunmu, reigned for a few years on a very team friendly contract. Those are two of the guys they should be rebuilding around so in 2, 3, 4 years they're contenders.
The first of the picks coming to them is a year away and the second 3 years down the road. Just what do they do in between? Or are they cleaning house and tanking? No they aren't.
Williams (maybe) Craig Phillips
resign? DeRozan Bitim
Vucevic only a maybe on Drummond Collins
Lavine 2024 pick
Caruso Dosunmu Carter
Of that list only Lavine, a resigned DeRozan and maybe Dosunmu would be certain to be around once they make the first returned pick.
That said no team with any sense is giving up 2 1st round picks for a combo guard even if he is still on the upswing when there are a couple of dozen to be found in free agency and that could be drafted every year.

Kuzma isn't worth an unprotected pick in a good draft from a team that's currently in the lottery, and White isn't worth 2 picks that could very well be in the lottery, one of which is unprotected. Too good for both Bulls and Wizards

Re: Washington - SAS - Minnesota - Chicago
To add another nit-pick - there's no reason for Osman to be in the deal. The Spurs have cap space.
I'd also agree with the general sentiment that this is bad for Minny and too good for Washington and Chicago, IMO debatable for SA.

Kat adds 20M more than Collins and Graham, and with their draft pick's caphold i dont think they have enough space
