Cleveland - Brooklyn - Boston - Phoenix

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Sat Apr 6, 2024 3:11 am

Assumption: Boston doesn't win, Phoenix bows out early, KD ask out (again?)

Boston trade: Brown, 2027 1st, 2031 1st
Boston receive: KD

Cleveland trade: Mitchell, LeVert
Cleveland receive: Brown

Brooklyn trade: Simmons, Clowney (and/or Whitehead), PHX 25/27/29 picks
Brooklyn receive: LeVert, Mitchell

Phoenix trade: KD
Phoenix receive: Simmons, Clowney (and/or Whitehead), PHX own 25/27/29 1sts returned, BOS 27/31 1sts

Why for Boston: Add a better 2nd option to Tatum
Why for Cleveland: turn mitchell into a locked up star wing, albeit overpaid
Why for Brooklyn: get the rumored star
Why for Phoenix: rebuild with own picks and 2 others

I think the Nets should just keep their picks, get under the cap and see about getting a guy like Mitchell, Ingram, or Lauri for free.

All around the value seems ok, but I don’t really love it for any of the teams. Maybe Brooklyn, but they might be better of being patient.

From a Boston perspective I don’t think swapping An aging KD for Brown just entering his prime does anything to fix any perceived issues and shortens the window significantly.

Is Boston stuck at 110% or is it just more salary than the send out and no aggregating? I really haven’t learned the new rules, but I think Boston can’t do Brown for KD?

I think if Cleveland does their trade, and Boston is really wanting to retool.. This is just a Boston/Cleveland trade with a third team clearing some of Caris’ salary down unless Mitchell has made a list that doesn’t include Boston.

I think a second apron team can only take back equal money or less now. I’m still figuring it out as well. So yes good point.

So Jayjaysee is correct. The trade as written in illegal for Boston as Durant makes more than Brown.
I don’t think Boston would want to trade Brown for Mitchell but if for some reason they do want to move Brown, then that’s probably the deal.

KD is 35 yrs old, Brown is 27.
I would not trade JB for KD straight up. Forget about the two additionals FRPs.
And I don't see how KD would be open to be the second option next to tatum.

People bought all the hype about Brown’s contract, he’ll top out at around 7th most highly paid per year and down from there. But as others have said the days of adding value to Brown to get to KD are over even if possible.
