Bucks will be like that after draft night with 3 spots open and 3 mil to work under the 2nd tax apron. Just let Beverly, Beasley, Crowder, Gallo walk and develop some young talent. I already like Green better than Beasley, both Marjon and AJJ showed flashes under Griffin, I also like picks in the 20s and 30s in this draft and Bucks will have two of those.

Does MIL have the luxury with their aging core to bet on developing talent taken in the late 1st round and beyond? I dont see it.

They will keep shuffling until they find lightning in a bottle or the vets age into obscurity IMO

You are talking like the Bucks are the 2014 Nets.

Here are the ages of the Bucks (Per BBref):
Giannis 29
Lillard 33
Lopez 35
Middleton 32
Portis 28
Connaughton 31

Beauchamp 23
Green 24
Jackson 22

This isn't some ancient civilization here.

When the 2008 Celtics won the title, their core ages were 30, 31 and 32. 2 years later in 2010 when they went to G7 in the NBA Finals, their ages were 32, 33 and 34.

The Warriors are the team to look at here, especially 2022 when they won the Title, with ages of 33, 31 and 31 of their "big 3" with youth sprinkled in with Wiggins, Poole and Looney all in their low-mid 20's.

What I said, as well as Slos, is the core isn't over the hill. Giannis has 5+ prime seasons left barring injury. Middleton isn't what he was but he is still younger than Pierce in 2010 [Similar players stylistically and body-type makes for an apt comparison]. Lillard and Lopez have seen their best years behind them, but both are still impactful players on their respective sides of the court.

The 20s and 30s in this draft have a ton of high-floor players like Kolek, Ware, da Silva, McCullar, Reeves, Holmes and Hall, all of whom have an NBA level Skill or two where they can come in and not have a complete "Deer in the headlights" look [No pun intended on the Deer].

Milwaukee made their big move this past off-season and the team is, without a doubt in my mind, going to be running it back for at least 1 more year. After next year they can re-assess at a higher level, with Lopez either gone or willing to take a back-up role and Middleton/Connaughton on an expiring deal.

I wonder if Miami would still be interested a year later in Lillard?

Herro and Robinson match Dame's salary and Miami does have some picks they could include.

Next season their top guys will be 30, 34, 36 and 33.

That is a very old core. Obv its important that Giannis is the youngest and by far the best but the other top talents are clearly aging.

Dame should at least age well offensively, but his defense is only sliding downward.
Brook at his height and size is an anomaly to be playing this well, but time will win out sooner or later.
Khris as he has aged is only showing more injury issues and with each one he is going to come back a lesser player.

I am not trying to be a hater, but its pretty clear the Bucks are a old team.

Yeah Bucks are bucked for the forseable future. Need to Get Giannis a legit running mate somehow and for that you’ll need a sucker on the other end of the deal. That Liliard trade looks terrible, but can’t go back in time.
They need a new coach to start with.

I am at a loss, but I think the best path is moving Liliard and picks for a good 2 way player and cap relief. Try to get on a position where you can get a max slot under the cap and look at the FA crop the next couple years.
