Lakers - Jazz
Ok here is my effort in getting Lauri to the Lakers.
Lakers Trade
Austin Reaves
Rui Hachimura
17th Pick this year
Remove protections off 27 pick.
29 unprotected
31 unprotected
Jazz Trade
Lauri Markkanen
Jordan Clarkson
Lakers get someone to pair with Lebron and AD and AD once Lebron retires. Clarkson replaces some of Austin production.
Jazz continue to build for the future and get 3 years of Lakers draft once AD and Lauri will be out the there prime. Reaves a young piece to add and pair with Keyonte.

Re: Lakers - Jazz
Value is there. Utah fans here don't seem interested in trading Lauri at any value which is of course a very valid perspective. But this is more than enough value for one year of him plus Bird Rights.

Re: Lakers - Jazz
The value is probably fine. I'd probably look to flip Reaves for picks or a young prospect, but that should be easy enough. Still would rather keep Lauri.

I still think that a trade is unlikely, but this is one of the better Lauri trades I've seen.

I think this is a little more than he's worth but Jazz fans also say they have no issue maxing him out. So i dunno

This is a solid trade for the jazz. I would probably look to flip Reaves for another future pick but that should be pretty easy with his salary.

Re: Lakers - Jazz
If this is on the table Utah should absolutely say yes. Utah will basically have CLE, MIN, and LAL's picks in some combination for the rest of the 2020's. That's solid.
Reaves is productive, and on a good contract too. Teams will inquire for sure if he's going to be available for another trade out of UTA

I'm good on passing if I'm the Lakers. Don't get me wrong, I think Lauri is tremendously talented but giving up every single last asset for a SF/PF that needs an extension as part of a trade seems like poor asset management.

Re: Lakers - Jazz
In general I think Utah should flip Lauri.
In general I thuik the Lakers should feel free to go in for a big enough name.
But arguably all 3 of Lauri/lebron/AD are best at pf. Even if you switch AD to center, and lauri to sf, I think there are negative synnergies and the players together are worse than their parts. Which means someone else should beat it, or Lakers should find a better fit, right?

Honestly this is too much value for Lauri.

I don't mind this. The Lakers often find a way to stay good, but not always.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I don’t think so, they rely on signing good players but hard to do that when you are asset poor and FAs know that.
