The Nets do not have a need for Capela. Is he an expiring or something?

They have Claxton and D Sharpe at C.

If IND dropped the protection and the Nets got another very solid 1st rounder I can see them considering this if Capela was exchanged for a player they could actually use as well IF THEY DECIDE TO REBUILD (I honestly do not think they will based on their moves the past 12 months).

It seems like they are about to add someone this summer to become the playoff team they looked like (add in the new coach and a new philosophy and a revamp and its back to the BK Way).

Capela is an expiring contract.

Still the Nets would be wise to route him to a third team for an expiring contract at a position they would have a use for.

This is unless they can get their pick swap back from Houston and are ready to tank.

If the Nets were to move Bridges, Mathurin as the foundation of the return always made sense to me. A Mathurin+Nembhard centered return for Bridges would provide young, cheaper, controllable upside that could still appeal to FAs or star trade candidates in the not too distant future. The fit of Bridges with Hali+Siakam+Turner, especially with Indiana seemingly exceeding expectations this year, seems like the perfect piece to push them further up the Eastern Conference contention ladder. For Indy, it accelerates the timeline while still maintaining a core with a lot of prime years left.

Is Mathurin healthy?

He's recovering & should be fine fore the start of next season.

Yeah, this deal is underwhelming for BK. They couldn't set the franchise back this far.

IND In: Mikal
IND Out: Mathurin, Nesmith, 2028 1st (top 4 prot.)
Pacers upgrade at the wing with someone that can create offense. Ideally they may try to keep Nesmith in a Mikal deal.

BKN In: Mathurin, Black, Capela, 2025 ORL 1st, 2028 IND 1st (top 4 prot.)
BKN Out: Mikal, DFS
Nets get two good prospects and a couple 1sts for Mikal and DFS.

ATL In: Nesmith, WCJ, DFS
ATL Out: Dejounte, Capela
Hawks build a more complementary lineup around Trae with guys on good contracts. They shed some salary, but don't get a 1st.

ORL In: Dejounte
ORL Out: WCJ, Black, 2025 1st
Magic get their PG. Just need to get a center through FA to fill out the team.

I think value wise it makes sense for everyone except ATL, who likely wants more than what they're getting back.

Can't see Indiana going for that.

Mathurin isn't THAT far off of Bridges right now as is and he is six years younger, and Nembhard is absolutely not a throw in piece.
