BKN/HOU- One Team’s Future for Another’s
Nets Trade- Suns ‘25, Suns ‘27, Suns ‘29, Phi ‘27 (Top 8)
Rockets Trade- #3, Nets ‘26, Swaps extinguished in ‘25 and ‘27
According to Kelly Iko, the Rockets are looking to push their draft assets back deeper into the future and are targeting the Suns picks.
According to Shams, Mitchell is increasingly likely to extend with Cleveland, which means Brooklyn is at a crossroads and the tear it down option must be on the table. This trade would then be followed by auctioning off Bridges, Johnson & DFS to the highest bidders. Maybe even a S&T of Nic Claxton.
I think this is a reasonable place to start the negotiations.

Re: BKN/HOU- Nets Picks for Suns Picks
NIce idea. I don't think there's enough value for the Rockets who have Brooklyn over a barrel. Might have to add from the Nets side.
Maybe remove the #3 or swap Dillon Brooks for Mikal Bridges. The Nets have less talent than the Suns so their picks are more valuable.
On the other hand, if the story is right and Houston initiates the discussions, then Brooklyn isn't in as bad a tactical position.

I do not think the Rockets give up #3 here, I think they very much want Reed Sheppard.
But this is... possible I guess.
I think people are way too high on the Rockets in 2025 (the roster makes no sense when healthy) and I don't know if I would value getting that swap in 2025 back.

don't think you're getting 3 here, if BKNs only plan (which is why I said this was a bad plan) falls through the picks have more value than they did at the deadline, can take Phillys pick out as well at that point. Or include Bridges and #3, you can still keep Philly pick

If I were Brooklyn, I would just trade Bridges to Houston and get my picks pack and keep the Suns picks.

There’s a big difference between having only one plan and having a Plan A.
I don’t think Brooklyn considers anything drastic like the changes you suggested. Certainly not Bridges and Suns picks.
If there’s not a reasonable deal to be had with Houston I think they shift to Plan B and use their picks to pursue Trae, Murray, Garland or even Ingram.
The potential and willingness of Brooklyn to go star hunting is probably why Houston is looking to cash in on that package now. It only takes one move to go from #9 + lottery luck to #15 or lower next year.

Everyone acts like those Phx picks have a lot of value because they are not protected. Odds are they end up in the low first. Four picks in the twenty to thirty range is not worth 3.
Deal could look terrible in a few years. GMs not looking for deals that could make them look bad.

But, Mikal for picks back works.

If the plan is to tank, just trade Bridges and whatever small value for the 3 years back.
Even if Bridges only returns the 2025 swap and 2026 first. Houston can keep the 2027 swap. Tank hard and try to build a roster 2026 offseason.
I always say Brooklyn shouldn’t trade for their picks back, but if they are - I’d use Bridges to cover as much as possible and keep the distant picks..

Wouldn't touch this.
Nets picks are absolute gold right now.
We have no idea where Phoenix will be in 5 years.

The problem with that plan is the picks and swaps are worth more than Bridges, so that trade would never happen.

Re: BKN/HOU- One Team’s Future for Another’s
I think Mikal is worth more than just the future picks. But, he is worth less than the future picks and pick #3.
Also - BKN might take a hit this year but they want to be competitive quickly (especially if Mitchell does not resign).
option 1 -
Nets Trade- Mikal, picks (maybe PHI 1st? also 2029 PHX 1st?).
Rockets Trade- Landale, Tate, JeffGreen, #3, Nets ‘26, Swaps extinguished in ‘25 and ‘27
- BKN has to send some picks to get #3 and its picks back even with Mikal. BKN clears cap when incoming guys and Simmons+Schroeder expire. Goes forward with #3, Claxton, CamJ and CamT and hopefully high picks in strong 2025 draft. Also, can sign Mitchell outright if not resigned.
option 2 -
Nets Trade- Mikal, CamJ, DSharpe
Rockets Trade- Vleet, Landale, #3, Nets ‘26, Swaps extinguished in ‘25 and ‘27
- BKN clears cap when incoming guys and Simmons+Schroeder expire. Goes forward with #3, Claxton, CamT and hopefully high picks in strong 2025 draft. Also, can sign Mitchell outright if not resigned. Houston would be overloaded on the wings but an abundance of talent might lead to other things.
