Re: Mock Off-Season: Atlantic Division
Monk stays in Sac if it’s 4/80. A team needs to put up a starting job and 4/90. Then, if he likes the fit on court…he is gone.

1) i dont think IQ will get that much. Only way he gets a starting salary of 33M is if its front loaded. Unless you think someone threw him an offer sheet
2) value is fine but i dont think we are trading poeltl if we are spending on Martin/Beasley and trying to compete. Thats a giant hole left at the 5, esp without any 5 coming in via draft
3) not a big fan of the prospect choices here but im no expert and its a crapshoot/flat draft
4) great job!

This would be 4/86 from Philly and starting next to Embiid/Maxey. The only issue is he may know doing so just means he's trade bait for Morey down the line if the 76ers miss out on a star this off-season.

1. I was trying to figure how far a team like the Spurs would push it to scare off the Raptors
2. I have Beasley as simply replacing GTJ and I think the Raptors went from having a lot of forwards to not enough so Martin simply fills a need, but I see Toronto as rebuilding. Olynyk/Boucher/Wood could get you through (with a deadline deal of some kind likely).
3. Again, I was trying to bring forwards back to Toronto with Klintman and trying to get the Raptors a back-up point guard finally in Kolek.

There are definitely some concerns I could see him having. The Kings can offer basically 79m over 4. A seven million swing over four years sounds like a lot but Monk is smart and knows he should be thinking about his next contract too. That will be his last long deal.
So a seven million swing now isn’t worth ending up in bad situations. If the next four years go good Monk can ask for a big three year deal. If not he’s looking at trying to get four year the best he can.

1) Spurs only have about 25M capspace though
2) if we are rebuilding we would be leaving more minutes for young players instead of signing 2 vets imo

Re: Mock Off-Season: Atlantic Division
I can't fathom Malik Monk as the starting 2 next to Maxey as a serious recipe for championship level success. I understand thinking of him as a flippable asset but man, Morey has got to be able to come up with something better than Monk & Melton and Obbi.

I like this for the Knicks. With our looming cap decisions I like using all of our picks to select cheap depth pieces to fill out our roster. I don't see the real benefit of letting Bogi go? Is declining his option the only way we keep OG and Hartenstein without going over the tax? Because otherwise I would be fine with him providing shooting off our bench.
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential
and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

I like this general concept for the Knicks of using the draft to rebuild front court depth and rookie scale draft. I don’t know enough about the prospects but a true backup C and a combo 4 who can space the floor seem to fit.
I would not decline the Bogy option though. No issue with being a 1st apron team and at worst that contact is an asset at the deadline and at best bogey regains his form as he grows into the role off the bench.
This is essentially running it back while using the draft to improve in the margins, which I think is a justified position for the knicks to take unless a big move presents itself.
My only concern is that the team desperately needs a guard off the bench who can create. If the draft plays out the way you outlined, swapping Bogey for Norm Powell would make sense (although I wouldn’t offer value beyond the was 1st to do so). Could also use one of the draft picks on a scoring guard or try to trade back into the first round to address the same.
Two other moves I would look into:
1) could you get good first round value in this draft for Mitchell Robinson. Robinson has 2 years left on a favorable deal and people don’t like this draft so that could create opportunity
2) if Ja’Kobe Walter falls into the mid teens I would consider using the future DET 1st as a way to trade into that slot to draft him. Has the makeup of a guy who can step in and compliment Brunson as a big 3 and D guard on day 1 and grow into a solid #3 option int he future.

That would be a really bad ending to Hinkie’s masterclass IMO.
