Portland/Charlotte draft night trade

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Wed May 29, 2024 3:48 am

Portland trades: Thybulle/#14 pick
Charlotte trades: #6 pick

Portland trades up 8 spots to get a more impactful rookie.

Charlotte trades back and gets a defensive wing to pair with Miller in the starting lineup. They drop back 8 spots but still get a possible rotation piece at #14..

Thoughts?

His defense is pretty valuable imo.

I know his shooting is terrible, but he seems like a good fit next to Miller at the wing. He can just guard the best offensive wing or guard. We have enough shooting with Melo/Miller. His role would be play defense and bring energy.

Thybulle doesn't hold this value. Holy smokes.

No reason for CHA to consider this.

If Charlotte has an early 2nd and cap to offer for Thybulle that would seem in line to me.

Yeah I'm pretty high on Thybulle and wanna keep him around in Portland but this is an overpay you can't say no to.

Not really sure how to make it more fair. Maybe add a Brogdon/Bertans swap if that is something Charlotte likes but still a bit awkward.

 showing my Thybulle bias that I liked the trade. His defense is something Charlotte needs.

Don't see how this deal helps The Hornets in any meaningful way

If Charlotte made this offer, Portland would have to accept.

He’d start between miller and ball as our best defender.

He’s an upgrade on Cody Martin who currently holds that role

Charlotte also need more vets who aren’t afraid of doing the dirty work. Previously they had Hayward and rozier leading a lot of kids and playing some crappy defense

Will take your word for it, but for an 8 pick downgrade in a shallow draft seems really risky for me.

Charlotte can still find a very very good prospect at pick 6 imo.
If you are keen on Thybulle, I am sure the Hornets can find a way without trading away pick 6.

Is it a shallow draft? I haven’t really heard it described that way before.

Regardless, this seems too good for Portland.

I think it’s more flat than shallow, not a big amount of standouts.

I’d happily take the cheaper cost.

Might not be that bad a trade for the Hornets for Thybulle would play a definite role as
defender.

Feel free to tweak the trade so that 6 goes to Portland for 14, 40 and Thybulle

I'm not sure that Id give him up for that.

Maybe if it were Poku +2nd for Thybulle
