If it’s CJ and not Ingram, you need to find the right third team that values CJ as a vet on a big but declining contract.

Then pay for Murray. Seems doable.

I’d just trade Ingram for Murray and keep my assets available in case a better star does come available.

I was thinking CJ to the Magic with NO's adding whatever pick value needed for what Atlanta prefers, be it, Isaac, Carter, Suggs or 2 of the 3.

Would include BI, the NO's Lakers 25 lotto pick that has some lotto projection for Murray, bad contract, #1

Magic trade - (Carter, Suggs, TPE) for (CJ, necessary pick value)

Hawks trade - (Murray, bad contract, #1) for (BI, Carter, Suggs, TPE, #21, NO's Lakers 25)

NO's trade - (BI, CJ, #21, NO's Lakers 25) for (Murray, bad contract, #1)

Seems like a trade NOP gets cut out of pretty quickly.

But Orlando should have no interest losing Suggs and Atl no interest in losing 1st….

It depends. You're under assumption of Magic's preference for Murray. The reason I believe Magic would be intrigued by CJ over Murray, is they're looking for offense & spacing. CJ shot 42% on 8 APG this past season & he can create shots. Murray is more of a defensive guard, who just had his best 3pt shooting season at 37%.

I was trying to swap CJ for Murray at the deadline. Offensive spacing for defense & better contract.

What are Magic looking for ? offensive spacing or to replace Suggs with a more expensive defensive guard.

I'm not the Magic so I don't know their preference but the above is how I view their situation. If they're after offense & spacing, I think CJ is the better target & if Magic were thinking Young. CJ is the cheaper version contract & trade, with better defense.

BI, #21 & a 25 first with some lotto projection wouldn't interest Atlanta who's trying to hang onto Trae ?. They get a proven star wing who's a lengthy 3 level scorer, play maker & the potential of a pick in a better draft. I'm taking back the "bad salary" so his extension would be more palatable.
