Wolves/Grizzlies more Towns

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Fri May 31, 2024 3:01 pm

Towns

for

Bane/Clarke

with picks to your team of course.

Towns/JJJ feels perfect with a JA/Smart backcourt and one of the kids at SF. A more balanced team.

Similar for the Wolves, a better balance and a hope that Clarke can stay healthy and be the 3rd big and gives them 3 totally different looks.

Ooooh even riskier blockbuster. TC been drinking mimosas this morning.

If Bane and Edwards are eventually enough ball in hand guards - I think this is workable option. But man, tough to see Towns in Memphis next to ideal JJJ as both teams battle in WCF territory. Towns might be truly unlocked.

The bigs are a perfect fit and you have to deal with Ja on offense, but Smart on defense. And a good young bench developing to fill in around.. that’s really tough to match up against.

I hope Minnesota says no.

I think Ant/Bane work though and it does balance the roster better while trimming 6-7 million dollars of pure tax. Maybe possible to get under the apron..

I said this back in October when Steven Adams had season ending knee surgery.

Grizz say no. We value Des only a few players guys we would trade him for and it wouldn’t be for another big.

Not a Towns guy at all, but if there's a team it makes sense this might be it. I like it. Think both teams get better. A+

What if it wasn’t Bane (some objecting to moving him) and wasn’t Grizzlies that landed Towns (avoid the conference rival hurdle)…

To Magic: Towns + Smart (who mentors Black) + VWJ (who backfills for Suggs)
Towns | Wagner
Banchero | Towns
Wagner | Jett | Houstan
VWJ | Smart
Smart | Black | Anthony

To Grizzlies: WCJ + Isaac
WCJ | JJJ | Aldama
JJJ | Isaac | Clarke
Isaac | Williams
Bane | Kennard
Morant | Rose

To Wolves: Suggs (bring him home) + Magic Picks + Huge cap savings (TPE)
Gobert | Reid
Reid | Anderson (ability to re-sign now)
McDaniels | NAW
Edwards | Suggs
Suggs | Conley

Suggs and Edwards should be ball in hand PG enough combo who duo very well together.

I like this trade for both teams but I wonder if 2 conference rivals who think they can win it all would make a big deal like this. Memphis probably has more risk here too but Smart and J³ can cover his defense.

You'll have just as tough a time extricating Suggs from ORL as Bane. He's the heart of the team. No way ORL even listens long enough to get to the part about Isaac...picks too? For such an amazing "get", Towns sure makes his way into a lot of trade offers from MIN fans.

Don’t over simplify why Towns makes his way into trades. We all know they “why” and nothing to do with what you are trying to sell.

Memphis is better off just not participating here. WWill is a super bargain and looks like a legit wing in the league and likely is a 25-30 minute player next year for us. We have been trying to develop a wing like him for 6+ years, I would not trade him for WCJ. Isaac return to form is nice but I really don't trust the health and don't want to be the team that hands him his next deal and in no way move Smart for him. We rather use draft capitol to find our next center than trade out win now players or youth that looks headed that way. If we can land WCJ for a 2025 LP 1st that is something we would consider, if we cannot then we just move on the next option, he is not a must have guy.

I am a no on Bane for Towns. I have seen enough of Towns that I just don't think he has it in him. Bane might not either but at least that story hasn't been told yet. It looks ok on paper but just not a big Towns fan....I do think he needs to be back at center to justify his contract going forward.

Would love WCJ but not trading Smart for him and VWJ is a keeper. Something around Kennard/25 1st for WCJ. Orlando only doing it if the getting IHart or Clax though.

What a wild swing -- from Bane to Suggs.
I dont entirely understand the focus on sending him to the East just to get back a worse return. Suggs as the focal point of the return would be underwhelming to say the least. Those picks dont look like theyd be overly appealing as I would think that Magic roster would have some good seasons ahead of it. And that Wolves team is definitely taking a step back. The Wolves struggled with bench scoring all season and this makes it worse. Maybe the money savings is enough to open up the mid-level (havent looked yet honestly) but even then I still wouldnt like that return. And Suggs seems purely an off-ball player at this point. I dont trust his handle enough after 3 years to even be a part of the solution at PG. His defense is great. Maybe he's figured out the shot. But there doesnt appear to be much of any on-ball there that doenst require Ant to have to take care of it.

I have wondered about Memphis in a similar sense. Interesting thoughts.

I feel what you saying but I highly doubt we trade VWJ. We are paying a vet level two way player 2 million a year. No way I don’t see Ja/Des/Vince/GG/JJJ not on the roster.

Minnesota should say yes. Naz Reid is a starting quality PF and they need Bane’s offense. But I agree MEM says no.

Understood. Magic just have no motivation to trade WCJ for Kennard and a delayed 1st - I mean maybe if way out of contention at trade deadline. Every team wants to trade their 13th guy (I know Kennard isn’t your 13th guy) for an improvement.
