I mean I don’t think Lauri will do that to be clear

Let's say all he cares about is the biggest pile of money he can lock the soonest. Utah can offer that.

What I don't get is why Utah gives him a raise and extend and then intentionally wastes the best 2 years he has left intentionally being terrible.

IF you are going to be terrible, trade him. If you are going to re-sign him, try to be good. Smurf's plan is the worst of both worlds.

Or they extend him then trade him?

Any interest in DFS, Cam Johnson, Schroeder, or the Philly first rounder?

I like the Nets as a trade partner at No. 10.

They would need to wait until next offseason to trade him if they do that given the various timing windows.

The idea is to keep Markkanen around while having him fake injuries for years and years until we luck into a star and then he's the #2 guy.

It's not a very good plan, but it has been what the team has tried to do over the last two years.

I seriously doubt #10 in this draft gets you an unprotected pick, probably a top 8 protected pick a few years down the road is more like it.

Dieng received 3 strongly firsts.

Sengun received 2 strongly protected firsts.

I’m sure there’s plenty of examples.

But for fun? I’d trade the Dallas 2025 unprotected for 10. But probably wouldn’t trade the 2031 unprotected for 10.

That’s what my post was saying..

Por could send - second best of 2029 first (Bos/Por/Mil).

or (since it seems like Uta not in love with Hendrix or Kessler)

#10, Hendrix for #7; or
#10, Hendrix, Kessler for 2029 BOS 1st and 2029 MIL 1st. This would give UTA five firsts in 2029 and push back the clock to start paying prospects. Por could start grooming the guys to see if they can step in after next year.

Sengun and Dieng were 2 cases of teams highly motivated to get a specific player, which doesn't seem likely to be the case in this draft . Even then. picks for Sengun were Pistons and Wizards firsts, which are 2 of the least valuable firsts that get thrown around time and again. So much so, that OKC turned around and dumped them (along with a late first from Denver) for Dieng. If you mean THAT caliber of firsts, yes, I'm sure Jazz might be able to find a couple of those if they're looking to inflate their tally of underwhelming picks. As for the offer for the Mavs unprotected '25 pick... yeah, I'm sure that looks really juicy coming from the recent NBA finalist

The 10th pick would be attractive to teams interested in: Knecht, Holland, Dillingham, Collier, Edey, etc.

Jazz should be trying to draft players.

Pretty sure they are just posturing about trading pick 10 for win now talent. I fully expect Lauri to be traded this offseason and Ainge wants other teams to think that they have to convince him to part with Lauri.

2025 UTA 1st top 10/8 prot for #10?

That thing may never convey, or it could convey in a better draft.
