What am I missing for why Detroit considers that? Or why the Nets get to turn Simmons into Herro for a 2nd round pick?

Zero chance we trade a usable player like Stew for Ben Simmons for anything less than a high level asset. A second rounder isn't it. You're not missing anything. We would not consider it.

Is PHI27 enough of an asset to get? That piece to Miami along with DFS/Stew feels a bit rich to me, maybe that pick goes to DET and the 2nd (or multiple) go to the Heat?

Detroit has enough cap room to accept this Stewart for Herro trade, and still have room to take on Simmons' $40M contract into cap space.

BUT . . . Weaver is no longer our GM, giving away cap space for cheap. We'd want some nice draft compensation for it, and I don't think a (lightly protected) Philly pick 3 years away is enough for a $40.3M TPE

This is a horrible trade for everyone but Miami. If the Nets and Pistons are that dumb then yes rob them blindly but I doubt that’s the case.

Too rich for the Nets. In this draft, DFS can net a 1st on his own, and I think that PHL pick could actually be more valuable than #15. I think either/or is close enough.

I agree. DFS is likely worth the 15th pick on his own. The PHI pick in 2026 might have nice value if Embiid is no longer be there. But, that is a big IF and its protected 1-6.

Texas Chuck might be onto something so respect to him. If BK also got a future protected pick here it would even it out. But, I do not think they want Herro on this current roster unless they make a few moves first.

To absorb Ben Simmons' contract, maybe? To do that *and* give up Stew? No.

In a vacuum this is good value for Detroit, but we need good shooters AND good defenders around Cade. We are giving up an ok shooter (Stew is an inept ofensive player) and a good defender, and getting a much better offensive player and shooter but a guy who plays 0 defense.

Good value, bad direction.

IMO Detroit have Cade/Grimes/Ausar/Fontecchio/Stewart. That's the lineup I would have started after the deadline. That's not good, but those pieces fit well together and they make sense.

We need upgrades over those players, but the players archetypes should be there.

I would like a much better defender than Fontecchio at the 4 however, while he is a subpar defender, he is not a complete disaster on that end, everybody else is a well above average defender (including Cade when he tries hard) and in theory can shoot (except by Ausar).

Randle/LaVine/Trae Young and Herro are not guys I would like to add next to Cade or instead of Cade (in case of Trae)
