The Wolves need the salary savings due to the ownership fight. That's the most important part. They wouldn't be moving Naz at all otherwise. So yes, they can get a better player, but that player needs to make $6M less than Naz, and that part isn't easy.
OKC trades 12 for Reid pretty readily imo. Ditto for Philly and 16
Then the Wolves should take those deals. They very well might get a better pick and space offer (although there's considerable overlap between J. Will and Naz), but Colbini's objection was they're win-now and they need a win-now piece back.
