If they see more value in Bogdanovic and Hunter than Lavert then those two parts can be eliminated from the trade. I did not know anyone thought Bogdonavic was better or more valuable than Lavert.
The issue is that the difference between Okongwu and Allen is not enough to make up the large gap between JJ and Bates. As it stands Atlanta is giving up the 1st and 3rd most valuable pieces and getting back 2nd and 4th.

That is why I added Lavert for Bogdanovic or Hunter but if eating their years and providing a better player isn't valuable to Atlanta and they'd rather keep those guys then the difference could be to large.

I don't have LaVert as the better player there.

This is an EASY EASY no for Atlanta

Saying JJ is a bad defender is laughable. He's a strong positive defender who also has size and versatility.

What brings down the team defense for Atlanta besides Trae? Is this a biproduct of starting wings at the 4? You would think with the length of Johnson, Bey, and Hunter, along with Capela and Murray, they would have faired better on that end.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Besides Trae's struggles on defense:
JJ missed time, Bey started at PF
Hunter missed time, Bey started at SF.
Bey is really bad on defense.
Murray wasn't particularly good guarding SG
As a team, Hawks were too small overall.

I think some iteration of JJ for Allen is the deal or there's no deal. JJ over Allen assumes improvement on JJ's part that hasn't occurred yet, and while that may be a fair assumption, and certainly one the Hawks would want to make, it's not the case now.

The Cavs were +5 with Allen on the court last season his on/off was +6.1.The Hawks were -1.3 with JJ on the court and his +/- was only +1.9. So if that deal doesn't work, it doesn't work, but there's no Allen for Okongwu deal as an alternative. Allen is really good player, his net impact on the Cavs is significant, and he's not getting moved for prospects the other team wants to move on from anyway.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.
