How would you fill 25-30m in salary without including him ?

dont kid yourself. if we could get CJ for just Carter, the front office would do it in a heartbeat

I was thinking Magic are a better defensive team than NO's & know you are in need of spacing & CJ is coming off his best shooting season, 42% on 8 APG. He adjusted his shot selection to better fit with Zion, spacing the floor & was elite at it.

Problem with CJ is he's not a good defensive fit with ZIon. Despite a poster showing the 113 defensive rating. They played a lot of their minutes together off the bench.

ORL's got picks to offer, but also could offer cap space by taking back an overpay like Hunter too. This could be big if ATL has some other deal in the works.

WCJ, Cole Anthony, ORL 25, DEN 25, ORL 27 for Capela and Murray

or, simply
ORL 25, DEN 25, Cole for Murray & Hunter (straight into cap space)

I have seen much worse offers than that one and would have to really consider it. Whats the protections like on those picks?

I'm willing to bet you heard no response back then.

I'd give up a FRP to make it (Isaac & expiring value/TPE) for (CJ, FRP)

The problem for the Magic is that of all the players that have been mentioned as a starting guard, they all have big warts,

Murray is a below-average 3-point shooter. Good for him that he has improved his shot for each of the last 4 years. It has improved to where it is still below average for a starting guard.

Monk has a long history of being well below average as an NBA player, forget just being a starter.

I could go on, but one wonders if the Magic don't just roll the dice with what they have and depend on internal improvement.

This website on phones can be a hot mess so I wouldn't hoist yourself too high.

I am not sure I trade for Murray in any iteration of this deal if Black is involved. But some of the offers here seem like they are worth more than what ATL paid for him and surely his value has dropped since that trade.

That Kennard and a late first isn't worth considering letting WCJ go. The Magic like Carter, a lot, and would only give him up this year for an amazing guard and the hopes that we can sign Claxton or Hartenstein.

This doesn't move the needle enough, at least in comparison to what else is out there. That's my opinion, but I'd still bet most Magic fans here would say "PASS" to that offer. If they responded at all.

That offer was in regards to a 3 team deal. If I’m dealing with the Magic only Kennard/#9 for WCJ/#18

Id pass on that. Would do 3 1sts, or max WCJ+ 2 1sts.

I do agree with Orlando_joe though in that I think its unlikely the Magic trade for Murray due to character. I think its best if he goes a team with vets, like the Heat or Lakers. Its unfortunate because I do like the fit on the court for the Magic.

I'd consider this if Orl could re-route Luke & #9 to ATL, along with additional Orl stuff, for Trae, and secure the signing of Hartenstein.

Magic aren't desperate enough. Hawks will find a seedier suitor elsewhere.
