Off-season Deal: Raps/Kings/Hornets

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Thu Jun 6, 2024 3:18 pm

Ill offer this deal for
-Raps to get some assets for Bruce Brown in exercising his T.O. while taking a flyer on a SG/SF
-Kings add a versatile SG/SF in Brown to enhance their rotation
-Hornets add more shooting depth with Huerter

To Toronto (Trade Bowen)
-Chris Duarte (1 year, $5.9 million plus Q.O.)
-Davis Bertans (1 year, $16 million, $5.25 million guaranteed if cut before Oct 1, 2025) *waive*
-2025 Philadelphia 2nd round pick via Charlotte
-2027 New Orleans or Portland 2nd (more favourable) via Charlotte

To Sacramento (Trade Huerter, Duarte)
-Bruce Brown (1 year, $23 million)

To Charlotte (Trade Bertans, 2 2nds)
-Kevin Huerter (2 years, $34.8 million)

Why?
-Raps swap out Bowen for Duarte and taking on the Bertans $5.25 million guaranteed for $5.25 million

Quickley/#19?/Liberty?
Trent Jr?/Dick/Duarte
Barrett/Agbaji/Nwora?
Barnes/Olynyk/McDaniels
Poeltl/Boucher/#31?

-Kings add Bowen to come off bench as they can re-sogn Monk to start at the 2

Fox/Michell/#45?
Monk/Ellis/Jones
Barnes/Brown/Edwards
Murray/Vezenkov/#13?
Sabonis/Lyles/FA?

-Hornets add a shooter in mid 20s whom is capable of starting and still has room to develop.

Ball/Mann/Smith
Huerter/#6?/Micic
Miller/Martin/#42?
Bridges?/Williams/Pokusevsky?
Williams/Richards/Thor?

Yes for Toronto. I don't think Brown has a ton of value and isn't in the long term plans, might as well get something. I don't think we'll be a FA player for a while so eating Bertans' salary is fine.

Just seems pricey from Charlotte's side but then again, how often does a srp even turn into a rotation player? Huerter is a known quantity.

Sacramento needs to be getting the 2nds here, not Toronto.

I'm fine with it as is.

Kings need to move to a more athletic fast paced team with a priority on defense. With Sabonis, it's important the other 4 guys are plus defenders. We saw what a huge impact it made putting Keon in the starting lineup. Brown would be a stud off the bench next to Monk/Lyles. At that point we just need to replace Barnes and we would have a legit 8 man playoff rotation.

Raptors would be better off just not picking up Brown's option.

Whatever return is available for trading Brown for bad contracts is diluted by the fact that he's overpaid by about $10M. Also it's much more realistic to get draft compensation for taking an unwanted player/contract into cap space.

Yeah with a return this low, just don’t pickup Brown.

This is basically “nothing”.

I don't think you can trade for Bertans and then cut him. Dust chip rule?

Not a fan of Huerter so I would pass for the Hornets.

Why?, Huerter and Duarte have little value to Kings when they are likely to re-sign Monk to long term deal and Ellis/Jones are going to get more minutes next season.

I think the only reason they'll not exercise Brown is if they intend to re-sign Gary Trent Jr. I think it all depends what his market value is going to be in summer and if Raptors feel Dick can play more minutes at the 2 upcoming season.

it depends on whether we're operating as a cap space team or not. We can't operate as an above-cap team and then salary-match with his $16M figure and then have another team cut him for $5.25M.

I think it's very likely we use cap space this summer, so Bertans can be traded as a $5.25M contract and we just absorb Huerter with $11.5M in cap space.

But I'm not trading cap space and 2 2nds for him, personally.
