Thunder/Jazz sorta different

Post#1 » by Dn4sty » Sat Jun 8, 2024 6:42 pm

OKC gets Collins and pick 10

Jazz get Aaron Wiggins, Giddey, 2nd worst of OKC 2025 1st (so prob around pick 22)

OKC gets bigger with Collins and can select two lottery picks. Presti has historically done really well at the end of the lottery

Jazz get Giddey and Wiggins who both provide more size on the perimeter and a pick in a better draft. Wiggins made 49.2% of his 3s (1.6 attempts) last year. They also clear themselves completely of Collins contract.

Value is good but I don't understand OKC tying up money in Collins and I'd rather have pick 10 than Giddey (the core pieces of the deal from our side).

Feels like 2 different deals. And like babyjax I don't get why OKC wants to use their one shot at space on Collins or add 2 more rookies and for Utah I like 10 more than one year of Giddey and Wiggins, dumping Collins and a future pick while more than fine on value probably don't get be to change my mind there.

Why not just make this 12 for 10/Collins/future 2nds if you really like Collins. Same deal as last year except this time you want the player you get paid to take. Utah still gets a similar caliber player and moves off Collins. Obviously this is predicated on OKC's target being there at 10 and Utah not being in love with anyone.

I think 12 for 10, Collins, 29 might be a bit closer to the right value. But yah, that seems a bit better?

There are so many ways for OKC to get bigger. We know who Collins is. If you know who he is, you don’t want him.

I like the original deal.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."
