WTF? What has Butler ever done to make anyone think he's not interested in winning a championship?!?! Has he been a bad playoff performer? WTF am I missing?Karmaloop wrote:JRoy wrote:Fair enough.
Light on value for MIA. They give up an all nba talent for a bad contract, a bench guy and a starter.
I guess MIA would really have to like Reeves to consider this.
Seems unlikely.
A soon to be 35 year old who is averaging 58 GP over the last 5 seasons that seems more interested in securing one last payday than winning a championship probably isn't nearly as valuable as you think he is. I'm not saying Miami should deal him for free, but the guy's trade value is dwindling fast.

Neither team does this. Butler is a terrible fit in LA and if Miami trades Butler I have them rebuilding and looking for draft picks and cap space.

Butler to LA
#17/Rui/DLo from Lakers to Miami and #18 from Magic to Miami
Reeves to Magic
Magic get some offense, creation for cap space and pick
Lakers roll the dice on a star
Miami saves A TON of $ and goes with
Rozier/DLo
Herro/DRobinson
JJJ/Martin
Jovic/Rui
Bam
Plus they have the #15, 17, 18 to stock up for the future
They take a year off and keep their pick in '25, then go all in next summer with cap space and young talent, building around Bam
So the best asset outside of Butler goes to a third team? There's nothing there
I see your concern, but you have Herro (similar to Reeves), plus your salary situation is bad. This gets them out of the tax and adds another pick. Play the young guys a year with Bam, Herro and Rozier and see what you have-then see what next summer brings.

But we're sacrificing the value so that other teams can benefit. At least send Reaves to us with Herro going to Orlando. Even then I'm not touching it, but at least that's a real savings that gets us in a much better position.

I agree that Jimmy’s age, injury history and contract status would depress his value to some degree if Miami ever did decide to move him. But he’ll still be highly sought after amongst contenders and return more than this paltry offering
