Agree this deal isn't overflowing with promise, but at some point you need to bite the bullet and course correct with the best deal you can find (I agree, hopefully this isn't it).
The should have a Mitchell commitment prior to the draft, i don't see any reason we couldn't make picks in this draft. Who knows if we'd end up keeping them anyway. You must remember that very awkward Andrew Wiggins summer.
I don't know that losing to the Celtics with both Allen and Mitchell out mandates any type of course correction. I understand that there are Cavs fans who want that outcome, but there's no non-emotional reason to bust up the team immediately. If Mitchell extends, Allen will be the player with the shortest contract of the core four and he'll have two full seasons left.
I'm not sure i could disagree with this any more. There's no non-emotional reason to keep this team together. Not even Koby is dumb enough to have watched the Eastern Conference playoffs, looked at our roster construction, and conclude - yeah we're fine.
The NYK physically (and mentally) dominated us last year, and had a significantly better roster this year. ORL took us to 7, and BOS handled us while missing one of their best players too. We were easily he smallest team in the playoffs, and our best players have redundant rather than complimentary skill sets.
You can't look at this situation logically and conclude it's just going to be fine if we let them play it out. This isn't the Brown/Tatum scenario, these issues don't go away with time. The only reason not to course correct is emotional ties to the players.
