Bruce Brown to Dallas?

Post#1 » by durantbird » Sun Jun 16, 2024 9:03 pm

Dallas get: Bruce Brown
Toronto get: Josh Green, Tim Hardaway Jr

Toronto get a good young prospect for the last year of Brown. Dallas get a 3&d guy more suitable for a win-now team.

Dallas: Luka - Kyrie - Brown - Washington - Lively; Exum - Hardy - DJJ (if signs) - Kleber - Gafford
Toronto: IQ - Green - Barrett - Barnes - Poeltl; Hardaway - Dick - Agbaji - Boucher - Olynyk

I'm maybe the only Mav fan here who still believes in Josh Green so I personally have no interest in this. But I suspect it will be popular with several other Mavs fans.

I'm guessing Raps fans have no real desire for Josh Green so they will just see this as taking on salary for no reason. I think they'd rather just decline Brown and I'd tend to agree with them.

Green is simply more valuable to Dallas who is over the cap and who he plays meaningful minutes for. Toronto can potentially use their flexibility that they lose after this off-season better than Green so including him in a deal takes value from both sides imo.

This is probably a decent trade for Dallas if brown’s contract was guaranteed.

But since it’s not, it’s bad for Toronto. And once Toronto demands incentive, it’s bad for Dallas..

I don’t think there’s a happy medium on this trade.

And think Josh Green is no longer a young prospect. He might add some consistency and improve, but no one is trading for him as a prospect anymore IMO.
