Tyler Herro for Brandon Ingram

Post#1 » by GoBobs » Mon Jun 17, 2024 2:11 am

Why for Heat: They have Rozier who can cover much of Herro's role. They add a legit wing who is still young and don't mind paying his premium salary cost.

Why for Pelicans: They get a player on a shorter smaller deal than BI is about to sign as a free agent. Herro's 3pt shooting makes him a nice fit next to Zion, and allows them to explore a follow up CJ trade at some point.

I think the value is poor for the Pels. Can't really play him with CJ and I think they are pretty optimistic on Hawks as a bench scorer.

I do think CJ or BI should be traded, but the return needs to address a need. This is just $60M on a couple of offense only combo guards.

Which teams do you see as willing to give BI a max or near max extension?

What kind of return do you think makes sense for the Pelicans? What type of pieces?

If Pels could a stretch big for Ingram they'd be happy. But certainly a starting C that fits with Zion is their major need.

No idea. I also think that's less relevant than this board makes it out. Teams are willing to deal for pending free agents every year knowing there is no agreement. That risk simply gets baked into the valuation of the player.

I think the obvious place to start is with a big man who complements Zion. If you keep one of CJ or BI you still have a veteran 2nd option, they have all those interesting young wings, but their big man situation right now is Zion, Nance, and hopes and dreams. They need a minimum of two rotation worthy bigs including at least one who is worthy of starter's minutes.

all you're doing is shifting Miami's problem of having 2 Terry Roziers to NOLA, who will now have 2 Terry Roziers

I've been pimping a Lauri to NO, BI to Golden State, Kuminga + GSW picks + NOP picks to Utah for a while now, but I still think it holds up.

This is pretty ugly for New Orleans. Really bad.

Can Ingram survive the famed Heat Culture? i think there is a softness in him that Spo can’t change.

If he plays like he deserves or at least close he is getting it, if he is not then he is not getting it, simple as that.
Pels would rather let him walk in FA then trade him for Tyler Herro.

Do you consider Tyler Herro a positive or negative contract?

I think this needs a third team, but I don't hate Herro as a younger fit next to Zion than CJ is.

MIA out: Herro, future 1st
In: Ingram

NOP out: Ingram, CJ
In: Herro, WCJ

ORL out: WCJ
In: CJ, future 1st

Maybe some other assets to fill in gaps.

Or just trade him for cap space and picks to the Sixers if PG and Butler stay put, but a team with cap issues of their own and CJ as their lead guard isn't trading for Herro for what should be obvious reasons.

I think that's step 1 for any Ingram talk. Good player - flawed (like everybody), but...he better be a fitting solution for that kind of money.
