but non-Pacer fans should know that Brown was paid with house money as the Pacers needed to get up to the minimum payroll.

Are non-DPE players eligible for five-year extensions under the new CBA? I think under the old agreement that this would be the max Siakam could get anyway.

I think he would've been eligible for 5 years from the Pacers as a Qualifying Veteran Free Agent who switched teams only once in the last contract by trade.

I’m a Presti fan but I’d recommend looking through a history of his trades. It’s not great. Brad Steven’s is goated though.

WIn for both parties. It was a smart move when they traded for him, he proved it, and now earned the extension. This is how smart front offices run their teams.

I think this is a really good deal for both teams. This is roughly the same amount as Sabonis and i think Siakam is a little more versatile as a player.
Pacers are on their way up and Siakam is a really good fit for their roster.

Wonder how this informs the next Ingram contract

Siakam is a better player and more reliable than Ingram...

He's also only 26 and while his rep dropped after his poor playoffs last year, his series against the Suns at age 24 he averaged 27/6/6 on 48/41/83 splits being the number 1 guy with Zion out. I think hes been severely underrated and whoever gets him while his reputation is in the gutter will get a steal. I think at his best he's about on the same tier as Jaylen Brown but maybe just a spot or 2 below

I agree with the Jaylen Brown comps, however, here are the issues with Ingram:

1) Worse defender than Brown
2) Extensive Injury history

New Orleans is very much like "Look we agree with you Ingram in that you are a max player. The problem is, you play 75% of the games at most on a regular basis. We will give you 80-85% of the Max we can give you, splitting the middle between 75% and 100% of the Max". Ingram's camp is obviously in the "Ingram is a Top 50 player and Top 50 players are Max Players" camp.

My guess is he gets traded for [slightly] less than what Siakam got, as I have Siakam a tier up as a player.
