DeRozan doesn't fit on a good team in today's league.

I also like Ainge offering Demar a big deal versus trading for LaVine. Chicago can still have the Minn 2025 first (or lesser of Minn/Cleve) to take Collins back as part of the trade and keep Lauri’s money open. Still makes a lot of sense to me..
Sign and trade to Golden State seems fun though. Wiggins+Payton+2025 first and end up with a second or two back?
To me, the team looking at DeRozan as the addition, are aiming for the Finals in the next three seasons. He's not a building block or mentor for a young team. He's as Stacey King bellows, a professional scorer, and realize that he's 36 years old. He brigs something that a team that has come up short needs.
On the other hand Zach Lavine isn't 30, yeah has the big contract which will look smaller as max contracts grow. OK so he's no defensive star. He shoots, he stretches the floor, he drives to the basket, I see Lavine as a better choice for a building team who takes the pressure to score every night off some of the young guys as they grow into stars. They are adding assets so in 2-3 years they're knocking on the door of the Finals. And when 2 or 3 of the young guys grow into stars you can at least hope that Zach sees his role on the team change, he becomes a more complimentary player who does more when needed to win games and provides leadership. And the other players respect that he's been around through the rough times and now wants to be part of winning.
If that's Utah for either of them then the Bulls take John Collins and any 2025 pick and wish them well.

Trade for butler
Why when Derozan plays more games and will be 1/2 the price in cap. Plus the draft capital is better spent elsewhere. dPhilly is not a team that can rest Butler, Emblid also misses a lot of the season and needs to be at full strength for the playoffs. IMO they need to finish above the Cavs and bucks in the standings.

Derozan has been a dud in playoffs

Maybe you've missed some seasons. It appears DeRozan hasn't been in the playoffs for 5 years, there's no telling what he'd do if he gets in in the 6th

I'm told actual poor playoff performance doesn't mean anything and excuses can always be made.....
DD isn't a final price to a contender. But if you are trying to solidify a mediocre team he's still a nice addition.

I think he would be good in the WARRIORS, he's someone you should keep an eye on, and he would open up space for Curry.. I also think it would fit well in the THUNDER.
