ORL/BRK/HOU

Post#1 » by Magic_Johnny12 » Wed Jun 26, 2024 7:50 pm

Haven't done these in a while so please go easy on me, not sure if I overcomplicated a simple deal.

Orlando Magic Outgoing

- Cole Anthony
- '26 FRP Swap via PHX or WAS

Orlando Magic Incoming

- Dennis Schroder
- Bojan Bogdanovic

Orlando Magic Reasoning:

1) They fill two holes w/ veterans that can help immediately while still allowing internal development.
2) They acquire two expirings and preserves future flexibility.
3) Opens up minutes for incoming FA and Anthony Black

*after this trade Orlando should still have a little over 22M in cap and can offer D Anthony Melton or Malik Beasley a bloated 1+1 deal.

Potential Depth Chart

Schroder/Black/FA
Suggs/Melton/Howard
Wagner/Bogdanovic/Houstan
Banchero/Isaac/#18 (Da Silva?)
Carter/Wagner/Bitazde

Brooklyn Nets Outgoing

- Dennis Schroder
- Bojan Bogdanovic

Brooklyn Nets Incoming

- Cole Anthony
- '27 FRP Own Swap Returned w/ top-5 protections
- 19M TPE

Brooklyn Nets Reasoning:

1) They get rid of veterans that are not in their longterm plans.
2) Take a flier in a hometown kid that should put up numbers on a rebuilding team
3) I believe this trade puts Brooklyn under the tax (could be mistaken)
4) Gets their '27 swap back w/ some protections from Houston allowing more control of their own picks

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Houston Rockets Outgoing

- '27 FRP Swap (via Brooklyn - Top-5 protected)

*Houston puts top-5 protection on the swap return

Houston Rockets Incoming

- '26 FRP Swap via PHX or WAS

Houston Rockets Reasoning

1) They further position themselves to be ready for a possible Durant/Booker trade in acquiring and controlling yet another PHX pick (swap)

I'd rather have the Suns swap than anything in this trade and it isn't close. Cole moved with Paolo over the summer to train in the off season together. I doubt Cole is getting traded, regardless of how much the Magic faithful want it. Schroder and Bogey will get bought out but the Nets and we can sign them then.

That's not a good deal for Houston at all it seems like? 27 swap with Brooklyn is certainly more valuable than a 26 worst of between PHX and Washington

Am I underselling the swap? I guess a lot can happen in two seasons.

This deal can be more simplified and cut out Houston and just swap the PHX pick with this years #18 and maybe some seconds returning to Orlando?

For 27 Nets to be good, you would need them to be not bad enough to not hit protection but for Flagg to be overrated and not good enough to win after two seasons in the league. For the 26 swap to be good, you just need Washington to continue to suck (likely) and the Suns to just keep doing their thing.

There is no protection and even if they're the worst team in the league they have a 14% chance at flagg anyways
