This establishes early bird rights right? So should be able to give him a really ugly close to 20 mil per year..

But I think it’s fair value for Oubre as is.

I believe so, yes.

Why can't they count Oubre at his cap hold number? Which was like 2 million?

They had no bird rights so either need to sign him using cap space or the room exem

His contract won’t count against the cap until later if they use the exemption.

Will be really interesting to see which way Morey builds the roster.

I think it would be best to trade for a 4-6 million dollar player to keep more options open. Like Kenrich or Troy Brown Jr.. Tate if you can squeeze enough room, but not sure about that.. even Richards or McDaniels though. You could just aggregate Richards, Reed, Council with a first for “DFS” and have your fifth starter

20M for Oubre feels outrageous to me. The money he got feels about right. Could have seen up to full MLE or something if a team was desperate for a wing.

Maybe if he can play defense at the level he did in the playoffs with consistency and has a good shooting year he gets a good bump.

Agreed. I know Kelly isn't the same Kelly we saw in GS, but I can't see him as more than a NTMLE player.

Just showing what he could get, not what he’s worth.

Philly will be much less limited next year due to having early bird rights.

I mean he played 30 mpg mostly as a starter with some solid production albeit on poor efficiency and poor shooting, but he defended better than he ever has. I don't see how that could be anything but a major win. Nothing wrong with this deal for a guy who knows the system and fills a real need.
