This is a simple but obvious question:
Demar wants to make money and win, but this market has dried up.
Rockets want to ostensibly make a playoff run now that their youth is stacked, and they have a whole bunch of cap space still left.
If DD were to sign there, they could play a platoon of youth / vets.
Fred V / Sheppard
Brooks / Green / Griffin
DeMar / Amin / Whitmore
Jabari / Eason / Tate
Sengun / Adams / Green
I think that’s sneakily good enough for a second round.
Why doesn’t DeMar DeRozan just sign with Houston?

We have no cap space, and want to keep cap open for next summer.
Hard to see where the minutes would be as well.

Houston already has good vets, no point giving a bunch of minutes to a floor raiser like DDR when the ceiling with him playing a big role is low. Much better to let the young guys play and battle among each other and let the cream raise to the top. Houston is already in a huge crunch for finding enough playing time for all their youth, DDR just makes no sense there.

I'd like to see him in Golden State if they trade for Lauri.

Houston is somewhere around $22m over the salary cap for next year.
It’s basically just Utah, San Antonio, and Detroit left with any meaningful cap space.

Why do people confuse Houston wanting to make a playoff run with having interest in B-level and C-level stars? Seriously, you wouldn't entertain these ideas if you were talking about your favorite team.

That would be great but with everything GSW would have to give for Lauri, would they have a clean pair of socks left to trade for Demar?

Maybe he'll go back to the Spurs for a 1-2 year deal? How much can they offer? I could see him interested in teaming up with Chris Paul and Wemby for a couple years to see what they can do.
