Honestly, I don't see the Nets as far worse from last year. Still have twin Cams (Thomas, Johnson) still have rim protection with Claxton. What is Ben Simmons up to? If he chooses to play this year, and plays at his median self, that could balance out the roster. in that event, trading or outright cutting him may need to be a priority.

Gotta figure they'll ship out DFS as well...wonder if we asked about making him part of this deal? After seeing Thibs play OG as a smallball 5 next to Julius, I wonder if Finney Smith could provide us depth behind Julius and Mitch that Thibs would actually use.

To take on that salary we would have to part with Mitch I would assume.

I dunno the new CBA rules well enough to understand if there’s a way to do make it work, but if we’re capped at the 2nd apron wouldn’t we then have enough room to fit DFS in if we made it technically a separate trade S&Ting Burks/Achiuwa for him?

among other flaws there, Burks already signed with Miami.

I don't think there would have been a reasonable way to include him in the trade, among the reasons - salary restrictions, Nets seeking value, center depth being a bigger priority.
