Way too good for the Knicks, and abysmal for Minny

It's a sure thing that they will suck for the next 2 seasons. The Wizards have no motivation to sacrifice a future asset in that GSW pick to get back their 2025 pick. They also don't want Achiuwa at all because he would play the exact same role as Sarr.

I agree that the Wizards have no need for Precious and the Wizards' pick is unlikely to convey as a first but i'm curious to how the protected Wizards' pick would be valued in comparison to the protected Warriors' pick.

The Wizards' pick is top 10 protected in 2025. Top 8 protected in 2026. It then becomes 2026 + 2027 2nd round pick if not conveyed as a 1st. The pick could fall anywhere from 9 to 38 in 2026 but is most likely to be in to 31-38 range cause as you said even if the Wizards are close to winning to many games they can find ways to retain their pick although the lottery balls could change things. I assume the 2027 2nd round pick would fall in the 31-45 range unless the Wizards' somehow jumped from a bottom 8 team to a near lock as a playoff team.

The Warriors' pick is top 20 protected in 2030 and becomes a 2030 2nd round pick immediately if not conveyed as a first. The pick could fall anywhere from 21 to 50 that year but the Warriors could also play the retain my pick game if they are just a few games in the standings away from losing it if they choose. The Curry Era most likely will be finished at that point and they do not currently have a potential franchise player waiting in the wing to replace him.

Agree with this.
A pick from the Wizards 10-38 in 2026 is worth more then a pick from the Warriors 21-50 in 2030. On top of that, if it ends up 31-39 in 2026 then they also owe their 2027 2nd round pick to NYK. I think that should tip the scales completely.

The 2030 GSW pick is really not valuable, but extremely value to GSW cause its killing their trade prospects with the Stepien Rule.
If I was a GM, I'd love to leverage that pick with GS.

Not close to equal value for Karl Anthony Towns. The Timberwolves can a lot better for KAT than a Julius Randle swap basically straight up if they're willing to move him in a trade.

Also this is simply too good for the Knicks overall. Julius Randle has positive value, but it's not that positive. Every other player they're sending out have neutral value at best and the picks they're sending might as well be 2nd round picks because those Pistons/Wizards picks may never convey as 1st round picks. The Knicks do not have the assets to get KAT and would need a 3rd team that value Randle enough to give up a 1st round pick in order to get Walker Kessler.

Interesting concept but this stretches our depth awfully thin on the perimeter. What’s our rotation after this?

Brunson | Payne | Kolek
DiVincenzo | Rokas?
Bridges | Hart
Anunoby | Achiuwa?
KAT | Kessler | Sims

I’m not sure I like that more than just going small with our current lineup…playing OG or Precious at the 5…if KP lights Mitch up from the perimeter.

Not arguing the OP is fair value, but I still think that Piston’s pick has a good chance to be juicy…it’s just protected for so long, they already have a lot of young talent, and they’re under so much pressure to not be totally awful; that I can see it conveying as a late lotto pick next year or the year after. That Washington pick I have little hope for OTOH.

…and Deuce’s value on that contract is neutral at worst, not at best. But he’s not a huge needle mover…even if I do think he could growing into a great backcourt fit next to Ant with his defensive intensity, shooting, and floor general instincts.
