ATL Bogi for DET Ivey

Post#1 » by Syko_boB » Sun Jul 28, 2024 6:05 pm

Hawks trade: Bogdan Bogdanovic (17.2m) & 25 SAC 1st (Top 12 Pro)

Pistons trade: Jaden Ivey (7.9m)

Why?

Hawks have a high payroll for a bad team
They send out a vet for a 22yo who fits the team needs as a potential fit with Trae

Okongwu / Capela
Johnson / Nance
Hunter / Risacher
Ivey / Daniels
Young / Bufkin

Pistons move off Ivey & put more focus on their other bright spots
Bogdan gives them another certified shooter to help spread the offense & they gain a 1st in 2025

Duren / Stewart / Reed
Harris / Holland / Fontecchio
Thompson / Hardaway
Bogdanovic / Beasley
Cunningham / Sasser

I don't see Snyder giving up his favorite person on the team lol. Bogi is probably the guy Snyder see as the best fit for his scheme on the team honestly. Plus if im not mistaken Bogi has the highest +/- of any player on the team when you pair him with different players. His always stays pretty high up in the + most times in every grouping.

That and if were being honest didn't we just get rid of a little more experienced bigger version of Ivey in Murray because the fit didn't work out at all with Trae?

Risacher and Dyson Daniels are more the type of guys at SG you would want next to trae. Off ball tall and long defensive specialists that doesn't need the ball in their hands to be productive.

Ivey doesn’t fit at all and hawks get worse while giving a 1st? No thanks.

Don't love it for either, but I have this as a bigger no for ATL.

There's a world where ATL turns it around this year. And I really actually like Dyson as the starting shooting guard giving size and defense. He's only 21 and it allows Bogi be the 6th man.

Ivey is probably a better fit with Cade than Trae. Two different styles of PG's imo, and Atlanta just can't afford to lose the versatility on the roster after struggling to have hardly any beforehand.

Im hoping this is a case of we might have taken a bit of a step down in talent level. Going from Murray to Dyson at SG but the fit being 10x better and it helps the team in general flow much better. Which in turn actually makes us a better team overall.

Dyson, Risacher, and Jalen Johnson are legit the perfect type of players you need around Trae to make him work. For me really the only real thing we are missing now is a big 7 ft+ guy that can stretch a little. Ayton would probably be the most attainable type of player for this. KAT would probably be the best player for this but would be hard to get. Our 2nd unit is actually quite good imo

Bufkin, Bogi, Hunter, Nance, Capela would be able to go head to head with almost anyone elses 2nd unit and probably put us back into games if our 1st unit is struggling most nights.

I agree. The Trae/Dejounte minutes just didn't work, Dyson works so much better.

I really like Nance as a stretch 5. He played well in that spot. And ATL has great size at the forwards, so I think he could work with the other 2.

I think the next step is definitely to move on from Capela. Not that he's a bad player, I just think his time in ATL has stagnated and a change is needed for both parties.
